Confused how 6.1 YPC isn’t a starring role worthy?

He’s had 74 carries and some of you act like that’s enough to prove he can’t cut it. If there is one position group we shouldn’t worry about it’s RB. Every leading rusher has been developed. Small, Wright, Sampson were HS recruits
I loved Jabari Small, but Bishop is in the same category as him. Solid back who ideally is you 2nd or 3rd back because you have someone more explosive on the team.

I want Bishop here, but I really hope Lewis or a portal guy surges so that Bishop is pushed down the depth chart a little.

Something I’m curious to see:

Last year this staff allowed a lot of secondary veterans who had been in the system 2+ years to walk. The secondary was upgraded by allowing younger guys (higher ranked recruits and more athletic) to play and bringing in a high end portal guy (McCoy). They also added two rotational depth guys from the portal (McMurray + Thomas).

This year they’ve had 4 WRs hit the portal (only Leacock seems to be the type of athlete they would covet). Will we see improvement next year because of a similar scenario? Allowing younger, higher recruiting ranked, more athletic guys play… the caveat being, will they add anyone in the portal? Try to find one high end portal receiver? Try to add a couple of depth guys?

I think it’s worth watching, and the way they flipped that secondary in one offseason earns them the benefit of the doubt from me.

That facemask to extend that drive was so huge. So huge. I know we couldn't cover their WRs (best group in FBS by far) but if we stop em on that first drive, it would have been a different ballgame at least until halftime...with us getting the ball to start the 2nd half and not shell shocked on defense. That play was so huge...the 3rd play of the game.

It was just one play though. It stands out because after that it was all downhill. Even if we got the stop OSU would have overwhelmed us later. We needed OSU to play a terrible game if we were going to win, and that didn’t happen.

I don't think there's any reason to assume we'll take a step back. Schedule is favorable again next year. QB a year older. We'll probably be pretty good again.

Although I do agree we need more impactful playmakers on the roster. But the offseason is long. More names will emerge and we will get some of those.

I would love some new hires on the offensive staff. But if Heupel wants to keep rolling with his guys he's earned that right imo. Grass isnt always greener. Hazle is young and will keep getting better. Heupel obviously trusts him and he's helped bring in and coach some high level QBs.

I feel like we could upgrade our OL coach for sure. But Elarbee has been with Heupel forever so i don't know if we should hold our breath here. We've also been one of the best running teams in the conference. So maybe we gotta take the good with the bad here. Sanders is coming to help at least.
