Hubbs has said repeatedly in the last 2 weeks that our NIL budget for 2024 was $15 or 16M . We apparently dont have $22M to spend like Ohio st...not last year anyway.
I posted about this earlier...but we are YOUNG as Hell on the Oline, Dline, LB and at WR for the 2025 season. There is no way we are winning the SEC or the Championship. None. We are looking at an 8-4 or 9-3 type season next year. Which is OK. We should be in MUCH better shape for 2026 and ready to make the playoffs again hopefully. To me, the question is how much $$$ should we spend for 2025 then? We DEFINITELY dont need to pay any Seniors or guys with only 1 year to play to come here for next year. Why do that? Its literally throwing away money. The question is what pieces can we afford from the portal that have at LEAST 2 years eligibility left...that we can develop and keep for 2026 when we actually have a shot. Ole Miss and others proved this year that you cant bring in a bunch of mercenaries and win every year. I dont think we could buy enough talent to win a Championship next season if we DID spend $6M more next season. That money isnt gonna develop or replace the 3 young guys on the Oline, 5 young WRs, 3 young LBs, 3 young Edges, 3 young DEs....it isnt gonna happen.
What do you think Weezie? I trust this staff has a plan and they are gonna put a good team on the field next year. I also believe they are looking at 2026 for a serious run at the Chip.
