'25 Portal Thread

This was supposed to go down earlier.
Good news (IMO), it didn’t.
Tennessee negotiating atm.
it seems on3 has caught on

So we were the ones paying players just to stay for the playoffs.
I don’t know why everyone keeps asking this. There was a literally a report during our game that Ryan Day had to meet with his senior captains to determine how to how to handle guys who wanted to go into the portal.

Ok, that still doesn't answer the question

The discussion could've easily been do we let them be on the field/sideline or let them go.

It does. There were other schools also trying to deal with kids wanting to leave. It doesn’t make it so that we were the “one school.”

Dillingham at ASU asked his players to hold off on entering the portal until the playoff is over, even though he knows some will get better opportunities. It’s all out there.

If Boo wants to play both sides of the ball, find a way to make it work. He shouldn’t have to go to Colorado to be the next Travis Hunter if that’s the sales pitch. He’s arguably a more dynamic playmaker with the ball in his hands than he is a defender. I’m not sure why we wouldn’t want to give it a try after watching him return punts.

Regardless, I’m exhausted by college football at the moment. It’s way harder to follow than basketball or baseball and outside of Chase Burns, neither of those programs have truly lost anyone of value to the portal. Hope this doesn’t become a trend for our football team.

Aidoo? I get fans may not look back on him fondly, but a starter playing 25+ minutes a game is a pretty big piece.

Cam Carr….And let’s not pretend that’s just about playing time. Never is anymore, NIL is always a factor. More time on court, larger NIL possibilities.

We should have let him play more on offense to begin with. Why I have no idea. That’s on the coaches. It’s obvious what he was somewhat capable of just returning some punts. Heupel and company don’t seem to play and develop young players as much as they probably should

Cam Carr is not in that category. He’s never done anything to prove he’s an elite talent other than have a 4-star next to his name.

I'm sure I'm not in the minority here, but I would LOVE to see Boo on offense too.
We needed more playmakers. He could have been one of them so why didn’t they try. I don’t get it sticking with the older guys who stayed half injured all year and couldn’t catch a pass half the time

He wasn’t really a contributor yet. Was going to get more time though.

Point is all kids focused on immediate playing time and NIL money.

Too many “advisers”
