4 years. All drafted rookie contracts are 4-yr deals with the exception of 1st rd picks in which the team has the right to exercise a 5th year option.5th rd pick is going to have a 3 year contract. His first contract will be much more as a 3rd.
So he has to play 3 years at 5th rd pay to get that second contract
I think it might be the case that David Sanders might not be ready to start until his second season here. A lot of 5 star OL are not ready for a season or two and often times they play a few games at guard first kind of like Paris Johnson did. I do think you have to go after OL in the portal as well for depth and as insurance if some of the young guys are not there yet. There will be a learning curve for some of these guys next year if they do start. If Karic can return, do we still need an IOL from the portal?
LT - Heard
LG - Karic
C - Satterwhite
RG - 1 of 10 guys in the room
RT - Sanders
I think Sham can win that RG job. He is going into Year 3.
I feel you and don't necessarily disagree but we gotta start playing the kids on the roster. We will have 3 guys going into Year 4 and 3 guys going into Year 3. Not to mention 5 guys will be going into Year 2. Thats 11 dudes!!!! Somebody gotta be able to play lol.I think it might be the case that David Sanders might not be ready to start until his second season here. Yes but I’m talking reality. Typically they will renegotiate the final year if a team wants to keep and sign to a longer contract. So usually they play 3 years under a rookie contract if they are going to get a sizable bump in their second contract.4 years. Ideally Sanders red shirts
I'm not an Oline coach, but it seems to that the best way to "develop" these o-linemen is to play them. The assumption in that statement is that their body is ready. If so, game reps are way better than any sled work with the O-line barking at them. Look at how much better Heard is now than against Ark. The Proctor kid from Bama is much better this year than last. Another example is Campbell at LSU. He was lost as a freshmen, but you can't coach size and they played him. He's now a first rounder. If you’re a top 10 ranked recruit out of hs, you don’t plan to hang around for your 4th season more less a fifth season. Red shirting him would be useless
Injury. He came back against us for a few snaps and got injured again. Never returned. Probably a question of if OU has a QB.Loading…

Was a star at OU in 2023 and didn’t play in 2024, not sure why. Looks like he’d be a good get, probably and upgrade from Webb. Maybe a bru replacement, big physical wideout.
