It was also Kutas' first year at guard and he jumped from a 72 -> 80 in one season. One more year of development and being placed in a more gap-heavy scheme (in addition to all the graduates) and he's probably a top 50-75 IOL next year. Hard to beat that in the portal.Hopefully we can do better. Spraggins underwhelmed this year.
What's the one similarity between Tilman and Bru that allowed them to have success in their 1st year?
Hendon Hooker was the QB.

Means these kids have already been in contact with other schools, likely for awhile.Florida mod indicating 1-2 surprise portal entries for them

Hopefully, Sanders is good enough to be the exception to this rule. If so, we may need to buy only one starter in the line especially if Karic is granted another year.Hate to tell you but it’s pretty rare for true FR to start right off the bat out of HS on the OL in the SEC. Arch Manning barely played his freshman year and he was one of the highest rated recruits ever. RS year one and play two years. Tons of highly rated recruits have done that. Like I said, hopefully he red shirts.
Please let it be Lagway!Florida mod indicating 1-2 surprise portal entries for them

I'm seriously wondering how Boo wasn't on this list. A huge contributor on a playoff team. No offense to the U of M cb, but did the voters ever see that defense?Any OL, DL, LB, RB or Safeties from this list that want to come to UT, please do

i'm going to say this, but it's not with the intent of arguing per se....but being an OT in the ACC is a lot different than being one in the SEC. the edges and DL Francis is playing against aren't the same as the ones anyone in the SEC would be playing against. so if i was going to hedge and provide situations where it could work...and has worked...it would be in the ACC/Big 12. the SEC, and to a lesser degree, the Big 10, not so much.....Kadyn Proctor also stuggled as a freshman. Of course he was a starter though. Francis Mauigoa also started for Miami and he excelled, earning All-ACC honorable at a true freshman RT.
So it's not exactly unheard of. Particularly for elite OT recruits.
Sanders is an EE.i'm going to say this, but it's not with the intent of arguing per se....but being an OT in the ACC is a lot different than being one in the SEC. the edges and DL Francis is playing against aren't the same as the ones anyone in the SEC would be playing against. so if i was going to hedge and provide situations where it could work...and has worked...it would be in the ACC/Big 12. the SEC, and to a lesser degree, the Big 10, not so much.....
all that to say, i think Sanders comes in ahead of the curve, and probably won't have to do the traditional 2-ish years to develop to the point he can start. that, i think, is pretty reasonable, and honestly, would be great....anything he gets next year just speeds up the development. but i don't think he's ready to come in after 1 summer in the program, and compete for the 2nd guy in the rotation, much less starting. (i say 1 summer, because last i remember hearing is that he wouldn't be able to be an EE b/c his HS doesn't really do that, if that's changed, and he is going to EE, i'm just unaware).
Safe to assume this is what we're targeting:Ok, looking now after recruiting class. I think we might hunt for 1 OT and one IOL. Maybe 1 DT. 1 Safety, 1 RB, 1 WR. No LBs, no TEs, no DBs. Depends though on who goes to the portal from our side. We just don’t have glaring needs outside of OL.
Need:
Guard
DT
Maybe:
LB
RB

Not surprised. They’re severely lacking playmakers. Who does UGA have lined up after Beck? You didn’t hear anyone clamoring for the star in waiting when Beck was playing so poorly. Sounds like they could have a competition next year.Dane Key is Uga bound. His gf goes there. Uga mods have said they’re going big for receivers this cycle.
Definitely don’t need an OT.Safe to assume this is what we're targeting:
I think we're actually kind of loaded at OT with Perry, Warren, J. Heard, Johnson III and Sanders competing for the RT spot. They all have NFL potential, and they all have 2+ years of eligibility remaining.
