'25 Portal Thread

If I'm building a team, I'm limiting my recruiting and building my roster with portal guys that are proven with multiple years of eligibility. Going with freshman is too risky to invest much money. They can leave after one year and it's pretty much wasted money. Over pay for more experience. Let other teams spend their money developing.

I think a team in Florida tried something similar this year and it didn’t go so smoothly.

I have a question? I thought the SEC commissioner made a rule that transfers can't transfer inside the same conference SEC schools? Is that not correct or was overturned? Do they have to sit 1 year?

We have had some of our portal transfers committing to SEC schools reason I was asking this question.
I believe that's for the spring transfer window.

Sure seems like he's gone based on what everyone is saying.

That said, I'd recommend everyone take a breath and let the next two weeks play out. There are a number of guys we're working behind the scenes.
If VN insider doesn’t work out for you, I recommend stand up, or the clergy.

You just described Ole Miss and they didn’t make the playoffs

You lose Matthews then bring in some mid major depth pieces and you’ll have a lot of people donating say F it. If we can’t keep talent or bring in talent WTF are we even doing?

I feel like Spyre lands someone amazing though. Just about have to, if you’ve made assurances to Nico that you’re serious about getting him help.
That's brilliant. In this wea of NIL, if we're having trouble retaining and recruiting talent, reduce the NIL they have access to for landing and retaining talent.

So I get Matthews will be the only player lost we really wanted to keep, but are the coaches at all concerned about what's happening in the WR room?

How confident are we in landing these guys we're working behind the scenes? WRs should be salivating at our predicament. Given our situation, they can ask for top NIL dollar.

2 scholarship receivers is not a confidence inspiring situation. I don’t care if you run the triple option. Which we don’t.

Think we look at Noah Thomas?

It sure is sickening to know we lost MM in the name of playing older, more experienced guys, even with the countless drops and lack of production. I’m sure it had to be frustrating. Pope better start earning his paycheck. He is the glaring weak link at this point….which Ellerbe is probably relieved for.

I didn’t say it was brilliant, smart or anything else. I’m telling what will happen. People donate bc they want to improve the talent on the field. If they don’t see that happening they won’t contribute anymore.

😂😂😂. True.
Our pitch. We’ve got one guy who actually knows where the field is.

The others have 4-5 guys that might beat you out of a starting role
