Support our business members here these companies are giving their all for TN.We know a couple of the targets on this list
From here, I’d expect us to go after:
1. Starter quality WR
2. Starter quality G
3. Wash St DT
4. SD St RB
5. Jefferson
Top 2 are the big questions
I think Alabama is doing that because they are behind their competition in NIL. They paid well when it wasn’t allowed, and as NIL started they were still getting the “Saban discount” with players who knew he could get them to the NFL.a bit off topic but do we think Danny hasn’t come out on social media like the bama AD and flat out asked for people to donate to NIL is due to the prior “talent fee” announcement? I just hope we aren’t getting behind others due to the lack of push for more NIL at least publicly from our AD/coaches
Feels like Heupel is going to have to incorporate more motion and misdirection. I think he can do that and keep his wide splits and up tempo.I had the same thought...they assured those guys of a different style, which means that's the intent.
Buy we can't just simply go back to doing what we did in 2022. Defenses have adjusted to the way they defend Tennessee. They're taking away the deep shots and daring Tennessee to sustain long drives. So what is our counter-punch?
The transfer portal wasn't open on the Dec. 4th signing day. I would say he was sold a bag of "Dillon Gabriel is out after this season come in and compete" He's a highly rated talent who I'm sure has confident in his capabilities. The portal opens up and word gets out that Oregon has been shopping for a QB in the portal and willing to throw out mega dollars for Ewers. If I was him my thought would be yeah there will be no chance here. And this wasn’t known when he signed with them?
Would be interesting to know what the difference is between NIL rates and pre-NIL (under the table) rates for different players? No idea who’s going to have that info or willing to go on record with it. For example, is the rate for a top tier OT now 2-3X what it was pre-NIL (making that number up)? But sounds like Bama’s boosters and under table capital campaign were very comfortable with annual “giving” under the previous administration. Now? Something must be different. Perhaps those aren’t as willing to write bigger checks without a guaranteed return on investment (Deboer).I think Alabama is doing that because they are behind their competition in NIL. They paid well when it wasn’t allowed, and as NIL started they were still getting the “Saban discount” with players who knew he could get them to the NFL.
Saban leaves, thus their discount leaves.
NIL begins and their systemic advantage of paying players under the table more effectively than everyone else evaporated.
Bama is playing catch up in this new world.
Our AD doesn’t have to come say that stuff publicly because we were (and I believe still are) ahead of the curve.
We have an ELITE Athletic Director. That guy is not going to be caught on his heels much at all.
Always felt good that MM would return. Even though he never fully went in the portal, it's interesting to see the amount of teams that came in with promises of big bags along with ridiculing our fan base and bad mouthing UT.
