No back in the 90s but just saying "don't look at a player because they go to UTC" is not a great plan for success. Sam Phillips may not be great but he had 5 catches for 54 yrds against us this season and could provide a depth option.
In 3 seasons 153 catches for 2088 yards and 9 TDs. 13+ yards per catch isn't too shabby. Better in every category than Squirrel albeit against lesser competition
Also, it's not tampering if a player in the portal initiates the contact. They speak to agents. Both someone unofficially connected to schools (not specific to UT here) reach out to agents and vice versa. Agents are *constantly* shopping their dudes, many all throughout the year. At least that’s how it works on the bball side.
While we were very good we were not Elite this year as Ga and Oh St proved that. We feasted on really bad Oline play and will again next year but I do believe we can be better than this year. In CHRIST AloneShouldn't be a drop off with the DL next year. Best trio of corners and STAR in the SEC coming back and we are now more athletic and faster at LBer. If Farooq can come along at safety, defense should be elite again.
I don't think we're after him I was more speaking to just blanket disregard of non power 4 players or kids that weren't ranked highly as high school recruits. Some of these kids just didn't have opportunities to succeed where they were in hs and may have finally had a chance to develop or break out at a new school
Nico would've ended up at USC had Lincoln Riley not had Malachi Nelson committed. If Helton had remained at USC, he would've lucked his way into getting Nico. That family would've loved to stay home.
And no, I'm not saying Nico's transferring, I've heard nothing that leads me to believe that, but this isn't some preposterous topic. I could make an argument USC may have made a run at making the playoffs with Nico at QB.
QBs don’t move in April or haven’t to this point. He can’t go now.
