'25 Portal Thread

Just my .02 but they are pretty sensitive over at VQ. They can also be condescending/ snarky. When people pay to get that in return, I can understand why people feel the way they do.
The snarkyness is why I cancelled years ago. Switched to 247 but Callahan/Rucker turned me off as well. I just have a problem with paying to be disrespected.

I think Branch is gonna be like Thornton...IF he is successful. Big "IF". You can't ignore 10.3 speed in the 100 in HS. Thats world class speed at that age. If he can learn the playbook and if he gets playing time over other UGA receivers and IF the Pups use him as a vertical threat, and IF he can get behind SEC Corners....then he can be like Thornton. Which Thorntons 6TDs and 30+ yards per catch will get him drafted in the middle to late rounds as long as he looks good at the combine. I think that's the ceiling for Branch though. Just my opinion...
An interesting tidbit, for me, is that Squirrel has a faster 40 time than Branch from what I've been able to find and his 100 time is only about a half second behind Branch. Also, I don't think receivers run 100 meters very frequently in a game.

This post is to no one in particular, but I would ask RF portal thread posters to look in the mirror and see if the shoe fits.
We were a playoff team this year. We have had very good back to back recruiting classes. We have won 30 games in the last 3 years.
We are now firmly relevant on the national stage. And this was done in less than four years while on scholarship restrictions.
After 15 years of darkness and turmoil in our athletic department and particularly our football program,
we finally have stability in, and unified support for, our program from the top (President. Chancellor, AD, HC) all the way down. We have the financial support and the institutional support.
We have a cutting edge NIL program. We took the NCAA to the woodshed and showed the country how we Volunteers stick up for our student athletes.
The leadership team, coaches., players and support staff want to take that next step. More than us fans, believe it or not. And they are working hard to do so, every day.
The AD/Football program only leaks what they want out. How refreshing that is in today's world.
And on some levels that bothers the average fan, because we want to know!, but that is how it should be. Loose lips sink ships. And our ship is very well afloat, and moving forward.

So to the persistent/echo-chamber hand wringers and wanna be talent scout/coaches that seem to think they know better than those in charge: you can bellyache, piss, moan and complain till the cows come home, turkeys start falling out of the sky, or the second coming of Catbone magically appears. It won't change a damn thing. Maybe it makes you feel better or important to vent such gas so often. But you are not impressing anyone other than your small group of like-minded non-believers.

To the rest of the massive Volnation, ignore the noise, enjoy this era of TN Athletics and.....Go Big Orange. Win em All!

The YPC aspect is interesting because USC's top 4 WRs all had pretty similar stats in terms of receptions and yards, and thus ypc...

M. Lemon: 52/764...14.7 ypc
J. Lane: 43/525...12.2 ypc
Z. Branch: 47/503...10.7 ypc
K. Ware-Hudson: 38/462...12.2 ypc

I wonder how much of that is a product of the offense USC ran? Was Branch, or any of the others put in position to do much after the catch? I don't know the answer, just thought it was interesting how similar those numbers were. Fwiw, Brazzell only averaged 11.5 ypc, himself.

I'm fine with us not getting Branch. I don't see the superstar some do, though he can certainly put up a highlight play at any moment. Not sure our offense, minus any changes, would make him anything more than Squirrel White was, this year.
Funds spent better elsewhere than Branch and his brother. Matthews made it a not a need. We can do better.

How can you be unprepared when Florida showed you how to beat them? Beck showed he hated pressure, banks never sent it; some of that was fear of lack of speed at safety.

In the first half we brought more than four on roughly 30% of their snaps but we hit the QB zero times. Don’t even think we recorded a pressure tbh.

Someone please give me some good news for the portal. This is discouraging so far

How have we landed nobody at WR yet?
Don’t need any unless all of our WRs left the team last night under the cover of darkness. Need to play the guys we have.

Seems some posters want 70 gazillion upperclassmen transfers, but blow a gasket when a freshman wants to leave because said upperclassmen transfers took their snaps.

That stat and UGA and OSU admitting that we were tipping pressure with our feet alignment but hey people want to keep complaining that pressure wasn’t sent.

As momma told me don’t say bad about anyone but with that said you can’t fix stupid.

squirrel can only run straight line. He literally has zero ability to make people miss

this branch kid atleast has legit open field ability...one look at his college tape and you can see Squirrel isnt near as explosive as this guy

I had you figured as someone who likes to look at the size of others' staffs. I think you stood next to me at the urinals once, pervert.
Lol shoulda seen that one cumming…

And yep, always makes me feel better about myself. If I remember correctly, yours was particularly minuscule. Even more embarrassing for an 8 foot tall dirty sasquatch. I think the term one might use to refer to it is needle, or micro, can’t remember what the lingo is these days. Might as well change your username banner to Comically Poorly Endowed Member.

We can do with what we have if they receive good coaching. It would be nice to add an experienced WR and Guard, but it's not dire that we do.
But we’re not going to get new coaches that you say aren’t doing good enough. Therefore, we do indeed need another wr and guard.

At some point they have to play to develop. So we should stop adding portal guys and let them play?

Can’t answer your question. Just waiting for mine to be answered that I asked in the beginning. Do we want the HS guys to play or do we want to keep adding from portal (which will then be used against the staff for not playing HS guys)?
No.

Yes.

I think you take one at OL, DL, DB, and WR every year just to have experienced depth or possible starter and let your guys supplement that

Seems those are the positions you have the most bodies and not all guys develop

Idk maybe I’m an idiot

Jk.

Seems qb is the only position we don’t take transfers of with the intent for them to be in the two deep. Just the nature of roster management in the NIL/portal era.

Nah, he's a fraud.

I think he just needs a break , he’s been around here long enough to understand our village idiots and how passionate we can be.He’s a good dude who did his best week after week bringing us intel. He’ll be back sometime, maybe we can get our info from one of those pay sites now 😉

“We don’t know if there’s any traction between the two parties, but what we do is UT has reached out. Will that mean anything? Time will tell.

In the meantime, coaches are working tirelessly evaluating potential targets and starting to focus on the 2026 class”

I was last year but not as much this year/moving forward... Our offense stalling/looking vanilla all season and so predictable teams schemed against it, along with glaring issues at two position groups, and seemingly dragging our feet again in the portal again, I don't get the warm and fuzzies i had with him the first 2-3 seasons. We'll see soon enough!

Your parents should take your keyboard away
