And yet, Squirrel had a higher YPC this season than Branch. I get it, Branch may be great, but he has yet to do anything at the college level to back up his perceived explosive ability.
Maybe he’s not a great route runner or pass catcher, or more likely he’s a terrible blocker, but just get the ball in his hands and it’s game over. Whatever the reason, obviously something led to him not being the next desean jackson.

There's definitely something with him that isn't adding up. He is being touted by some on here as one of the most explosive playmakers in the country yet, through two full college seasons in a pass happy offense, his longest reception is 42 yards and he has a very pedestrian YPC.

Branch? Mr. 10.6 yards per reception with a career long of 42 yards? 🙄

They were terrible. At pass blocking, and with an inexperienced RS Fr QB it wasn’t good.
I agree the pass blocking left a lot to be desired. the comments being made were that we will only be able to rush for 2,500 yards again next season if we make significant improvements to the OL. That is inconsistent with the fact we ran for just shy of 3.000 yards this year with an OL that most people didn't think was very good.

If we don't upgrade at WR, letting all those we had on the roster leave for whatever reasons, and then not replacing Spraggins, Mays, and Campbell, with everyone knowing part of the problem is the position coaches, when does the HC need to be held accountable?

We will see what they come up with, they are apparently in no hurry and evaluating kids, but at the moment, it's not looking like much...

I'll keep saying this as everyone is tired of it, but if we don't get our Oline settled and elite, then all the WR issues/RB issues, won't matter because the RB's won't have lanes to run through and the WR's won't have time to get separation/run the routes because Nico will be running for his life. Pretty simple formula. We've seen what good and bad Oline's have done to our offense the past 4yrs...

I believe we have enough talent at RB to get by this season, but only if our Oline is strong. We need another elite WR and at least 2 more Oline, or we will definitely IMO be taking a step back next season, which is not what Heup was hired to do. Don't give me the scholly argument, because other teams are working around it and we certainly can too. Something is just not adding up on the NIL and getting talent upgraded/replaced front when other teams are currently getting who they want and we are treading water...

Defense is a another story...
More than anything, Heupel was hired to get us through probation, which still has a few years. The fact he found success so fast was a blessing. So let's not act like his success thus far is "no big deal". And I'm not sure who these other teams are that are working around scholarship reductions and other punishments that were levied against us. I agree that Elarbee and Pope need to be replaced, and Heupel needs to be careful about being loyal to guys who aren't very good at their jobs, but he's safe at least until we're off probation, and he should be. We were a program on the trash heap, and he resurrected us.

No. I think he was hired to win.
