'25 Portal Thread

My unsolicited opinion after another weekend of portal activity:

I want a WR and I do like the kid out of Miami. Although looks like he’s bama. We’ll take our time with that position IMO. With Seldon news it seems we do add a RB and if we do I want Russell and nobody else really interesting in portal rn. He won’t be cheap, so I doubt we pursue. If any of you really rich fellas want to actually help our team out go pledge $500,000/year for Russell. Otherwise IMO he’s at Miami or a Texas school next year.

I want 1 or 2 IOL and I want a DT on the line. Seems we’ve identified our guys there and are bringing them on campus for visits. Great news, this league wins and loses on the line. From there, we may look at a safety or a LB but that would imo be luxury and depending on fit. Overall, we are doing a very nice job with the portal, even though it may feel like a slowly developing situation.

I think the guys we have are pretty competitive, and Udoh would add to that. But he need to learn pass pro, and route running. There’s a huge learning curve there. All though a service academy kid would have the discipline to accomplish that.

He’s overall “burst” is what I’m concerned about. He’s getting those big runs on belly dives where he doesn’t get touched till well down field.
He’s not following lineman and pressing the hole to create running room. But he runs hard.

Can’t punish him for the offense he was in, but at the same time that offense doesn’t help him with the transition.

And you know what the NCAA won’t do a Fing thing about it. But likely they give us some crap about a social media post by Nico.

I wish we could get that kid.

He an All-SEC safety waiting to happen.
He can play every position in the secondary.

Was unstoppable on offense in HS

I want Moe and Thompson for the moment.

Heupel hasn’t had any luck with big RBs, but any OC worth his salt SHOULD be able to make Braylon Russell work for their offense. He runs like he’s 250. A true power back. Averaged 7 yards a carry against our top 5 defense. Had 176 yards against MSU.

Coaches from Boise State and Colorado State have both gone on record in press conferences recently that they know for a fact that their best players are being contacted. BSU coach said he's confirmed that 13 of his players have been contacted. CSU coach said what's happening is agents will contact a school and say something like "How much would you pay for ___ if he entered the portal?". School A says "$200k". Agent DM's player and says, "If you enter the portal, I can get you $200k from School A".

Probably collectives and agents moreso than the school. You’ve got the same programs doing the same crap. Why I never minded Pruitt cheating here bc he cheated at Georgia, Bama, Florida St.

Gotta give it to Lane and the OM crew. They see an opportunity to finally put OM into the upper tier of CFB teams and they are pulling out all of the stops to get there.

Most likely. Which is completely legal, but also predatory. The NIL really needs some tougher regulation, and not regulation against the kids. As we saw from other collectives, schools will promise Filet Mignon to get you on campus, then serve you rump roast when you get there.

Going to be interesting to see if there is unexpected offsetting exits when their bag looks small compared to newbies. Over paying a few could stir things up.
