Hey I did't realize it was her father but get over yourselves. Labrum surgery is practically out patient surgery. Our society is too sensitive. I need prayers for the hang nail I just got. What a bunch of pansies.

Moron. Have you ever thought that as a parent, OP is thinking beyond surviving the surgery and hoping for a full recovery?

My older daughter had a plication of the labrum after tearing it in NCAA sports, and although she has a technically-normal shoulder now, she was not able to play college sports again.

I repeat: moron.

Anyway, best wishes, thumbs up, prayers and all the rest for a Lady Vol and fellow human being.

Melissa is a little over 4 weeks post operation. She saw the doctor a couple weeks ago and will see him in another 2 or 3 weeks. She will be also be wearing the sling for another 2 or 3 weeks before she gets the clearance to remove it.

Melissa is going to therapy M-F for both her shoulder and her hand. Her hand is doing much better but she still has a nasty looking scar. For her shoulder, she is working on stretching and improving her mobility.... she won't be able to do any weight training for a couple more months but that will all depend upon how quickly she progresses with therapy..... I do know that she is working hard!

On a side note, she has another week of summer school... believe that the 9th is the last day of summer school and the fall semester starts on the 21st so she will have a short break between sessions.

We are checking dates to see when we can come back for the fall semester... want to take in a couple football games and back as much as possible in the spring given it's her senior year and it being her last Hurrah!!

Go Vols!!

Melissa got to remove her sling Today. She was supposed to wear another week but a call to the doctor from the physical therapist and she was able to remove a week early.

She finished up summer school last week and has a few days off before starting the fall semester on the 21st.

First off, I want to thank Melissa for coming to UT and being a part of the program. She is a an asset. Secondly, I would like to thank you for letting her come to UT. That is a big sacrifice. I hope neither of you have regrets about that decision. I look forward to seeing her on the field and playing again. Third, don't pay attention to the idiots. They are not worth the effort. Tell Melissa a lot of folks out here are pulling for her to come back strong and healthy.

Melissa started lifting light weights and running with her shoulder rehab and yesterday started throwing the softball for the first time.... seems to progressing nicely... she thinks that she should be cleared to swing a bat either sometime in November or early December and ready for her Senior Season starting in February!
