1. 2-3 players transfer.

2. LVs sign a Southern Conference-caliber HS player in the spring and possibly a juco, giving us a roster of 8-9 scholarship players + a couple of walk-ons.

3. In order to avoid whiffing again during the fall signing period, we add a couple more marginal prospects. Top recruits recognize that the LV brand has been diminished significantly and the allure of joining a once-prestigious program has evaporated. And given that current players are a program's best recruiters, many recruits are turned off by the toxic atmosphere in the UT program. Even if they like Holly and/or the assistants, the uncertainty surrounding the coaching staff's future gives them additional reason to go elsewhere.

4. Averaging under 60 points per game in 2016-17, the LVs record their first losing season in history. Average home attendance falls below 8,000.

5. Holly is forced to "resign" in March for the good of the program; a new head coach is hired in April.

6. 2017-18 & 2018-19: Due to having signed only 1-2 SEC-caliber prospects in the preceding 3 years, the LVs and their fans suffer through 2 more losing seasons with horribly depleted rosters.

Sounds about right, I think 4 players leave if Holly return though (Nared, Te'a, Diamond, Dunbar)

I would replace Dunbar with Russell. If there is an exodus, Kortney will be getting 30 minutes per game. Russell has to know she's killing her WNBA profile by playing for a 3rd tier coach and not getting better. She has 2 years to make a statement, and she can't risk wasting another year with Holly.

Yes! Hart and Cheek should have already fixed this.

That is the best case scenerio. What if Holly does NOT step down in March and the program endures another season of misery?

Then the program is done.

Part of it depends on the transfer situation. If Diamond, Te'a and Jaime leave and Holly does not step down immediately, I think the Lady Vols will have completed their transformation into Old Dominion.

Jamie is one that doesn't get a lot of airtime on these forums but she looks equally as unhappy as Diamond.

They both look miserable. She just has less of a resting ***** face than Diamond does.

You can read on her face, "I've made a huge mistake coming here" every time Tennessee has one of "those" games.

The U.T. Athletic Department has not build up it's "war chest" like Hart wants us to have. So, to fire Holly and owe her a buy-out is not reasonable at this point. For Holly to volunteer to resign, means, (1) she is viewed as a quitter & (2) she is not owed any money from the Athletic Department. So, she will NOT resign.

She will stay another year and the program will fall further. Once that happens, she will be fired and we will have to find someone interested in coming here.

We look at U.T. as the "end all be all" of coaching jobs but outsiders don't see it that way.

When Bruce left, we literally had to hire the 20th person on our coaching list. No one was really interested. Eventhough Bruce had instilled a winning attitude in the program and within the fan base. Hell, we beat Florida, Oklahoma State, Kansas & Ohio State on national t.v. That is huge for the men's program, yet no one was interested in the job.

In football, Kiffin begged for the job and Hamilton was too lazy to do a search, so he hired him.
In football, Dooley was the 18th person on the list after Butch Davis, Lovie Smith, Jon Gruden, MusChamp and others were not interested.
Dooley gets fired and we end up hiring the 19th person on the list.

When Holly gets fired, I don't see a people running to Knoxville for the job. We will end up hiring someone's top assitant with no head coaching experience. From Notre Dame, UNC, Duke, UConn or SOuth Carolina. Top Assistants will not command as much money as a proven head coach. That is a plus for Hart.

The new coach will have growing pains and it will take years of recruiting to overcome the lack of recruiting from 2015, 2016 & 2017 that Holly did.

This is the more realistic scenerio.

UNLESS, Tyler takes his team far in the tourney and the A.D. is impressed and he takes the job. He may not take the job after his mom's long time assistant was fired.

Ready for cleaning house! However, this is STILL the Lady Vols! It is the Pinnacle of Women's Basketball via history, fan base, and potential.

I normally agree with you but I disagree with you on this having already sat out a season I don't think she would sit out another 1. At 6'6" she is going to get a look (whether it's via the draft or camp invite) regardless of how bad she truly is/playing. She also bodes well for what Holly wants to do (pound the ball inside at all cost) why would you leave that and go to a program where you might not be a target on offense? Also Dunbar can't see the floor because of her inability (according to Holly) to play Defense and since that's what Holly preaches Dunbar will continue to sit because she was never coached to be a defender she was coached to be a sharp shooter!

I feel most sad for Jamie Nared...

I remember seeing her on Good Morning America at 12 years old professing how her dream school was the Tennessee Lady Vols.

(just rewatched it..could have sworn that she was asked where she wanted to go to college and replied UTVols)

Exactly the way I see it going down as well. I'm already hearing were not doing well with the top players in the 2017 class.

This program needs a rebuild from scratch. The first obvious need is a coach who can coach and recruit. The next need is that the LV fans accept that its going to be a long, hard slog back to respectability. Thirdly, that respectability is still a long way from where Pat had the program, but getting there might not happen in their lifetimes.

Two things. Why does U.T. have a habit of giving 3rd rate coaches these elaborate golden parachutes? Is that a holdover from the Mike Hamilton reign of idiocy? Secondly, with regard to Tyler, haven't we been there, done that, with respect to hiring head coaches on the strength of their last names?

There's general agreement that there's the need for a head coaching change. There's considerable disagreement over who would be the best type of replacement candidate: a former LV? A current successful head coach? A current successful assistant coach?
Although successful head or assistant coaching experience is always very desirable, all had to start out as novices to the coaching profession. The LV needs someone who has a head start due to personal playing experience and due, more importantly to deep understanding of the game and what it takes to be a winner. All the better if that person has orange in her blood. IMO the one who fits that profile is Kara Lawson!! Listen to that woman's analysis of a game and tell me if she, once gaining the "hands-on" they all needed, wouldn't be the total answer. Would she give-up her current position? Hard to tell, but she should be approached and made a solid offer!!!
Finally ( and not related to the above) those who take joy in seeing the slow deterioration of a pristine Women's BB program are not only LV detractors but detractors to all WCBBB!!!

His mom was one of the most notoriously results oriented coaches to ever walk on a court. You think she wouldn't have canned Holly herself over this abomination of a performance.

Will not have a sit a year if she transfers to a Division II or III school or to Europe and play as a pro.
