Possible WR Coaches

Out of those mentioned I'd LOVE Larry Porter, but Jones will be bringing his own dude from Cincy's. Last year we were Alabama North..Now we're Cincy's bigger brother.
Porter is a recruiting machine, so I would definitely consider him first...but alas, it looks like this is going to be the relocation of the entire Cincinnati staff, to Knoxville. Best staff in the County....and no, that's not a typo.

you don't want to make it too obvious.
He waits a day or two so he would appear like he's looking.
Yep..."We're going to assemble the best staff in the Country!"That's Greek for "I'm just going to move my staff from Cincinnati, here....but I want the fanbase to believe we are leaving no stone unturned, so we can dole out the full $3mill to my guys."

Lawrence Dawsey (FSU)

Troy Walters (NC State)

Ron Dugans (Louisville)

Chris Beatty (Illinois)

Kevin Dyson (Independence HS)

Kippy Brown (Seattle Seahawks)

Would be really excited to have Kippy back. But after what Hammy did to him, I really doubt he would come back.

I've heard a rumor that Latrell Scott (yes, he of the failed Dave Clawson experiment) may be getting consideration. After UT, he was a position coach at UVA, the HC at Richmond (he was fired for getting a DUI), and is now the TE coach at JMU. Believe me, I remember how awful the Clawfense was but I also remember Scott was a beast on the recruiting trail, especially in Virginia. In my opinion, getting pipelines in Virginia and North Carolina is imperative to UT getting back on top. I say this because those states are close geographically (so parents can see their kids play and the players can get home easily) and those states lack a SEC school. I just think recruiting these states and Tennessee would provide a good base of talent which can be added to from Georgia, etc. Thus, I would like to see Scott back on The Hill.

I think people forget that "best staff in the country" is a relative term. You could try the Dooley method, and assemble a random group of seemingly good coaches, only to find out that they don't work well together and don't have similar football mindsets. Or, you can assemble a group of coaches who work very well together, share similar football ideology, and can get the best out of their players.

You could take Bama's staff, put them in Jones' system, and you would most likely not have a Bama quality team. If Jones assembles a staff that shares his methodology for teaching and that he is comfortable with, I think that it's reasonable to say that, at least for the team's sake, he is working with the "best staff in the country".

Drinking coaches is a positive

The DUI arrest is definitely a drawback but I think the positives outweigh the negatives with him. Of course, that issue means different things to different people and, if you think that disqualifies him from consideration, you are certainly entitled to believe that. I just think that getting into Virginia with a proven recruiter is worth the risk, if there is even a risk. In the 2013 class, Virginia has two 5* and ten 4*. In the 2012 class, Virginia had no 5* and ten 4*. In the 2011 class, Virginia had one 5* and seven 4*. Thus, there is talent in the state.

I know what people say with the chemistry of the Cinn. coaches but to even use the sentence " best staff in college football" scares me that Jones is all hat and no cattle. Please don't let that be true!

All Tenn is doing is giving the cincy coaches new colors and players; he should bring Hinshaw back for mere fact of having someone with any relevancy of the Tennessee program. He was a solid recruiter and WR coach.
