My favorite play in the Spurrier Era at UF resulted in this pic.

After Meyer left, some folks went through back channels to see if UF was interested and the AD let it be known that Spurrier could submit a resume and he replied: "Tell him to go look in his trophy case."

That's straight up gangsta.

Makes me dislike Jeremy Foley even more.

A couple of years ago at Media Days he said that he loved playing Georgia early in the year because you could always count on them having a few players suspended then.

In 1997, Florida had a huge game at Auburn, gameday was there, we needed Auburn to win for help wining the east. The week of, QB Doug Johnson got suspended and Spurrier decided to start Jesse Palmer, who lasted about 2 series. When asked why he pulled him so quickly, Spurrier said "well, you know he's Canadian, not really used to these big crowds."

The halftime quote he gave a few years ago while being throttled by a&m.
"How do y'all like our new 3-4 defense."
Love him or hate him college football will never be the same.

After beating Miss State 52-13 and racking up 535 yards passing, he quipped:

"They had the #1 pass defense in the SEC coming in..... But they won't going out."

In response to the "he runs up the score" crowd:

"Those who can score, do. Those who can't, complain about those who do."

--Spurrier NEVER had an undefeated season.
--Tennessee beat him in the "Biggest Game in Florida Field history." (2001)
--Spurrier was so heartbroken he quit his job at UF
--Spurrier quits with a 2 game losing streak to the Vols and is quitting to avoid making it 3

That one play defined the Spurrier Era at Florida.

4th and 11, what should we do....

Punt? Screw that.

Go for the first down? Screw that too.

dude i was at that game. that play killed the vibe. that was a great day...right until that play. tightened up 106000 people. my room mate left after that TD. he was so pissed....lol thinking about it now.

interestingly, that was Peyton's best game against the gators, and we had a furious come back that fell 6 points shy. that play in the 1st quarter was the play of the game.

Yet he's still one of the greatest CFB coaches of all-time, he owned Tennessee during its most successful period in your lifetime, and even in UT's finest hour in 2001 they crapped the bed that very next week...because beating Spurrier in Gainesville was so important and significant, UT couldn't shake off the week-long party hangover in time for the SEC title game.
