During Tennessee's recruitment of Josh Selby, several of us on this board said he was a headache and not worth the hassle. Others disagreed and raged at the heavens when he spurned the Vols. I think we can now safely say who had it right.

Well, he sure hasn't turned out to be the star point guard that everyone seemed to think he was. Interesting to see where he goes from here.

Despite the headache, it would have been nice to have a point guard with actual talent.

I would be willing to bet had he come to UT, he wouldn't have made it through the season. Probably would've been kicked off/in jail. Questionable character to say the very least.

Josh Selby= the next Joseph Forte. Mark it down. And I would be saying that even if he came here. Bottom line is the kid is trouble. Give him a little money and watch what's going to happen.

Hat, did you think Selby was going to be a problem? I wanted to know because I'm wandering if you created this thread partially because you wanted to boast your speculation.

Yeah, it's real speculation to expect a guy who was run off from DeMatha, tooled around in cars owned by 'Melo's business manager from the time he was 16, and was compared to the likes of Jonathan Hargett by multiple Big East coaches would be a pain in the ass. Real lucky guess, that one.

Hat, I know this is a little off topic, and I know you normally only run editions of the trap during the season, however, given al the turmoil within the program and the recruiting having so much speculation at this point... I guess what i am saying is I miss the trap and would greatly appreciate a mid-offseason edition or maybe an edition after the current signing period is over with a little more insight into the state of the program and how you feel we can put together a competitive roster next season.

Thanks,

Regardless, the last sentence of your first post leads me to believe you created this thread partially because you wanted to rub it in peoples' faces.

I just don't want to continue believing that if it's not true.

I'll be doing an offseason edition sometime soon. Waiting for the signing period to pass and all the BCS job openings to be filled.

Could you blame him if that is the intent? When it turns out that I am right, I like to boast to the jackasses who tell me I am an idiot and follow me around, too.

Didn't you know that anyone who waivers on their college decision is more likely to commit felonies?

He got the boot from his old HS, one that caters to ball players like him. Thats a red flag, imo

Thats funny b/c they both went to the same HS

No joke. When dumb asses say you're a liar or an idiot, it's good to remind them how wrong they are, and encourage them to do a little self-reflection.

Wasn't there a pre-mutiny against Bruce by prominent posters to this board because UT "lost" Selby's commitment while BP was out of the country coaching the jewish olympics?

Seems like certain people were suggesting the fact that Bruce wasn't in pocket to at least try to talk Selby out of decommitting was a fireable offense back then.

In any event, many blamed Bruce personally for losing Selby. Is the consensus now that we dodged a bullet by Bruce "losing" the Selby commitment?

I'm just trying to decide if it's still Bruce's fault, or, was it divine intervention indirectly related to Bruce's jewish faith that we ended up losing Selby?

Two totally different issues. Being off on a meaningless family vision quest while an open period for recruiting is going on is the height of arrogance and stupidity. I don't care who committed or decommitted during that time.
