Potential Post Spring Roster Changes: Transfers?

I can’t see this at all. Our top two RBs leaving? Both these guys are stone-cold studs and are the foundation of a very effective running game for us. They’ve got plenty of film to prove it…and blow away any smoke about either one leaving. If there’s a credible link, please share it.

I didn't say both RBs would leave. Where did you get that from?

As far as the link to rumors, there was thread started about it back in January

Jaylen Wright leaving?

There was also talk about it on TOS and on YT channels like TalkingVawls. It seems focused on NIL. And coincidentally, he inked a new NIL deal like a week later.

I'm with you. I’m ready for September when those Clowns come to town. I don’t mind talking some during the game, but when you keep getting torched over and over again you have to be quiet. When you win keep your mouth shut and let the scoreboard do the talking . If he or anyone else pulls that same stuff they should get roasted on social media. It’s a terrible look.
They def owe them a good one. Hopefully the D can step up and really rattle the rattler. Would be fun to watch him implode after the way he acted

Not a coincidence, that is the new world we live in with NIL (for better or worse)

Thanks for this. News to me, even though the tweet is long gone. Sounds like you used the right word…”smoke.” The two posts combined posited that both Small and Wright might leave. You said Wright was more likely; I was responding to the claims that either or both might leave, which I find ludicrous. I guess what I find even more ludicrous is the notion that either of our top two RBs might leave for more money. But I’m a geezer, what do I know about kids these days? Thanks again.

I hope they can find a decent quarterback just for insurance purposes. The last thing I think we want to happen is the wheels fall off because Melton and Nico get hurt.

I don’t see a “decent” option signing on and hoping for an injury. Gaston Moore will have to be “decent”.

I don't know that either one are particularlyb likely to leave. I just think if one does leave, it will probably be Wright before Small.

I also think that given our interest in RBs during the first Portal window, there is a good chance we are still in the market for a transfer RB.

I'm opposite. I'd see Small leaving before Wright. Wright will be our #1 RB this year. Sampson and Seldon will be hard to keep off the field. Hell I wouldn't be mad to see Sampson and Seldon as 1A and 1B.

That honestly wouldn't hurt. Wright, Sampson and Seldon are all better options. Plus he stays hurt.
I think it would and the reason he stays hurt is partially because what he is asked to. Sampson is the flashy pick but he hasn't proven he can get the tough yards or be an every down back. Small has. Seldon will be a beast but he's just a freshman so we'll see when he's ready in a real game. Wright most likely could fill the gap but nice to have another guy to go to if one is hurt.

Hubbs said BOLO for a few names to pop up, but didn't name specific players.

I have wondered about Kamal Hadden since his tweet about Volnation haters after the season was over, but he got a lot of snaps during the spring so that may have given him reason to stay. I also didn't hear anything about him being unhappy this spring.

Haddens a good player. He just needs to get the extracurricular junk behind him.

Well, if so, I truly hope it’s a bigger dude who can run over and through some LBs…somebody similar in frame and legs to Jalen Hurd. Just a bigger dude who likes hitting people as much as Jabari Small does.

I’m gonna have to disagree with you on that, brother. I’ve seen Hadden burned so many times I’m ready to call him Bacon. Maybe he is a good player at some position but I just can’t call him that as a DB based on his body of work I’ve seen.

just finished the VQ post spring podcast on YT.........

Hubbs said he "quietly" had a really good spring and is doing everything he is supposed to be doing to get better, both on and off the field. By quietly, he meant he has stayed off social media and not made a spectacle of himself.

AP and Hubbs both said they expected him to transfer out before the spring but that he has put his head down and got to work.

If that's true, heupfully we will see that translate into a huge step up in contribution.

Wonder if Small might look elsewhere. Hope not but I could see it happening
His shoulder would be the only reason that if one was to leave it would be him. Not sure he will start it may be Wright, Sampson, Seldon if Small stay he will be behind Wright. And probably play as much as Seldon. I would find ways to get 2 RB's on the field some and one must be Seldon .

That reminds me a lot of the attitude Jalin Hyatt took last off season. How'd that work out?

Looking at scholarship players only. Surely we’ll have a couple/few transfers out. Any guesses as to who?

I could see a DB or two and a DL or two enter the portal. Those are crowded rooms. OL seems pretty open and competitive. Same with LBs. Rb room seems happy. WRs seem committed.

if they are going to take anyone from the portal, then they are going to have to have a like number of players leave. So if they get 5 portal players, they need 5 to hit the portal. and if the NCAA hits with more scholarship reductions, then they don't take anyone from portal or have more leave.

I just don’t see any of our 2 deep leaving, my best guess is an OL or two and a DB or two. LBs, DL, WRs, QBs, TEs and RBs seem to be set.

From the portal we can use one more TE. It seems we want one more OL too. Other than that I don’t see a need unless a true 5* come through.

He was awful against Florida. His “attempt” at tackling on the first Florida TD was embarrassing. He was pretty bad all year.

Agree. Moore is an above-average walk on who is going into his 4th year in Heupel’s system and knows it very well. I don’t know that there is a portal QB out there who gives you anything more than what Moore gives us. He is our insurance at this point.
