Its a TEAM sport my friend. Peterman didn't single handedly lose anything for us. And let's remember he basically lost the ability to use his thumb on his throwing hand in the first quarter of that game.

I think he deserves another chance and I hope he gets it this year.

Grant Ramey: Butch described a play in Tuesday's practice where Barnett chased down Devrin Young because he was hustling to the ball. Butch, referring to the play made by Barnett in Tuesday's practice, called it "one of the best plays I've seen in a long time"

I think that Redzone drill is going to be HUGE factor deciding who starts. That was one of our biggest problems last year. We always had to kick a field goal. and now, who is our kicker??

What were the Redzone Drill stats for the first practices? Or is this the first time they did the drill?

I'm starting to think Peterman is ahead of Dobbs and breathing down the neck of Worley.

I don't even know you, and I would rather you start than peterman again. Florida gift wrapped that game and peterman handed the gift back.

The throws on those fade route drills at the end of the video are terrible. They were all over the place. The QB's at this level should be able to put the ball in the same spot every time from 20 yards out...

Agreed. I was mocking anyone who thinks he should be named starter.

He is a senior, he has proven he is awful, for years in a row. He isn't going to all of a sudden get it in the next 24 days.


QB play is what could wreck this season, unless we have some kind of very dominant run game to lean on.

How many Tennessee quarterbacks have excelled in their first start on the road against an SEC foe? It was a terrible game by Peterman, but even great quarterbacks struggle early in their careers. I'm not petitioning for him to start, I just think it's unfair to close the book on his career because of one game.

Pros:
-Sounds like our Defensive Line will be better than most think with the great showing by the freshmen DEs.
-In the videos our RBs look very good in drills (Take it with what you want but right now running seems a better tactic than throwing with the QB play)
- Linebackers sound like the most consistent group.
- Defensive Backs seem to be moving in the right direction.
- Defense looks better than the offense so far through camp.
-Some freshman stepping up (Moseley, Wharton, Hendrix, Barnett, and Hurd)
-Medley seems to be having a good camp altogether

Cons:
-QB play is really spotty and inconsistent
-WRs in turn don't get many chances to make plays and seem to see some doing very well
-Our mindset isn't there yet

Unknowns:
-How well our OL is and how far along they are.
-QB starter (Obviously)

No one has ever been judged by how they play in one half of a football game. It was for sure a very painful game and one that was hard to be at in Tennessee orange afterwards believe me. But I disagree with putting it all on him.

I've been following all the threads so far for the fall and watching all the videos. I understand it is just a portion of practice each time but I see more velocity, accuracy, and consistency from Peterman than any of the others so far. He has three years of eligibility left so I'd love to see him get at least one more shot.

It will be a frustrating year as far as QB goes. NP has been banished by fans for failing in the Swamp against top rated defense, with an injured hand, and a Vol OL that was lazy and underachieved. Worley, as a senior is STILL consistently throwing into the dirt. When he does correct....it ends up intercepted, incomplete pass, or a jump ball for recievers.....yet we bash NP for the Fl game.
Dobbs overthrows and has thrown many interceptions...yet as a true freshman.. made some plays with is feet.
I'm for whichever QB staff chooses and
I agree with you Doyle, its going to probably be another frustrating season.

Very true. I'm actually happy our defense is improving more than the offense right now. Hope our defense can keep us in games because with the QB play right now it's getting bad. Hope for a better practice tomorrow
