KERBYSON: It's great for the freshmen to get into Neyland and practice or play. It's a special place, even when it's empty.

Jordan Williams: We have a lot to put together, but I feel like we'll do it for Saturday.

WILLIAMS: I've seen a lot of effort from the freshmen, they have the size, they just have to utilize it.

Kerbyson: We go to battle together, that helps us connect as a unit.

Kerbyson: We have a great relationship. I'm glad we have Coach Mahoney.

Kerbyson: We take it as motivation. What are we going to do to prove ourselves? It puts a chip on our shoulder to go out there and work

Kerbyson: Most freshmen struggle with effort, but these guys are all over the field and it shows.

Notes from Danny Parker

-Several NFL Scouts were in attendance today: Bills, Chargers, Dolphins and Titans.

-Jones was unhappy with Pearson's effort.

-Peterman was the most effective QB in red zone drill. He threw 4 TDs while Worley threw 1 TD and three interceptions. Dobbs threw 2 TDs.

-Tight ends did not do well in passing drills. And Branisel doesn't look 100%.

Butch Jones spiced up a kickoff-return drill by shouting, “Come on, Eric Berry. Come on Eric.” Realizing his mistake, the head man quickly recovered and shouted: “Evan Berry, I wish you were Eric Berry!”

I was thinking the same. They seem to be progressing faster than the. This year, we will rely primarily on the run. Most of our passes will be screens and short throws.

We seriously do have a QB controversy.

Worley beat USC last year so we all know he can play well but his first few games were horrid.

Dobbs may end up the started.

We need to beat USU because if we want to make a bowl game so there is no time to screw around.

Jacob Gilliam: We need to play as a group and be consistent. If we can do that, we'll be fine.

Gilliam on getting a scholarship: I was actually at the pool. I didn't know what to say, I was shocked.

Gilliam: I'm not going to assume anything, but I won the job in the spring and kept it.

I keep watching the practice highlight videos after each practice and something keeps jump out at me and that is how Josh Malone doesn't give any effort and look like he doesn't want to be out there. Is there somthing going on with him? Injurys or something maybe
