AshG, a good friend of mine and alumni of my fraternity, is in UT's ICU, battling for his life.

His brother said: ""My brother is in an intensive care unit in Knoxville. He lost his foot today, has septicemia, his kidneys and liver have also stopped functioning. He's got a rough road ahead of him, but still, there's the unshared and fearful thoughts that his friends and family don't want to mention and even acknowledge, but we must be prepared for. Please keep my brother in your thoughts and prayers. He really needs all the support he can get right now.""

Oh, and he and his wife have 2 young children. It's just terrible all around and I just hoped that this could get him a few more prayers when he needs it the most.

Faith the size of a mustard seed. And hit your knees. Nothing is impossible.

In times like this, some wonder what can you say, even how to say something of comfort. So let me in what may be a feeble attempt, offer in humbleness the following:

"Dear friends, do not be surprised at the painful trial you are suffering, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice that you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed" (1 Peter 4:12-13).
