Through the years, I've seen this over and over again on this board. You'll be starting a thread towards the end of this season wanting Jones fired because he didn't meet your expectations.

No I DO NOT do that! I support whoever our coach is win or lose. I supported Dooley right till his last day and I will do the same with this coaching staff!

That doesn't mean I liked what he did. I'm just a true vol fan that supports our staff reagardless of who it is through thick and thin. I'm not a bandwagon fan that sits back every year and say when haven't got squat and we will go no better than 4-8 or 5-7. If folks don't have no more trust than that in their team then they don't need to be here plain and simple! I know I will get flamed but that's ok I'm vol through and through and that's all that matters.

Once again, for those tuning in late, post your predictions (with scores) and include a bowl game if you'd like. I will track this through the season, and the winner will receive TWO FREE Decent+ tickets to a game of your choice.

Why am I doing this? Feeling generous, I guess.

Sidenote: No Patrick, I do not want to take that bet. Thanks.

The predictions will be scored as follows:
  • 10 points for correctly picking the winner of the game
  • The plus or minus spread from YOUR prediction, ie UT 49 - 23 Austin Peay (diff +26) will be deducted from the ACTUAL UT difference of the result of the game
  • If your prediction is an exact match to the result of the game, you will be awarded an additional 5 points.

Let's break down the second point here. I'll use Catbone as an example (and thank you, by the way):

Catbone predicts UT to lose to Oregon 37-20. The "UT difference" here is -17 (37 minus 20). We lose by 17 points.

Actual outcome #1: Oregon wins 42-21 (bummer). 42 minus 21 = 21. Fortunately, Catbone wasn't too far off. So I will take the ACTUAL UT difference, -21, and deduct Catbone's -17 from that, which would be -21-(-17)= -4.

Now, Mr. Catbone did score 10 for getting the game correct, but loses 4 points (-4) on the difference between his predicted spread and the actual game score, resulting in a final point total of 6 for that game/week.

Actual outcome #2: Oregon LOSES 42-21 :)dance2:). In this case, however, the ACTUAL UT difference is now +21. +21-(-17) = 38, and Catbone then loses 38 points for the game/week from his cumulative total.



IF, at the end of the regular season there is a tie, the closest prediction of the last game (Kentucky) will determine the victor and break the tie between the tie-ees.

Otherwise, we have 3 more days til I stop taking predictions.

Big Orange Loyalist, Thanks for including my picks. If I were to win, please give the tickets to a Vol fan. This is your board and they should go to a Vol fan. I'd love to see you guys do very well every game except for your stop in Eugene. And I actually want you to play well that day as long as my Ducks win the day. :thumbsup:

I guess it's a bittersweet for you that UT doesn't play back to backs with Oregon... unfortunate that you wouldn't get the tickets, and fortunate because UT would stomp you guys in '14!!! :)

This year is the second game of the home and home with UT. I give UT a lot of credit for being willing to play home and home with PAC-12 schools. Not a lot of SEC teams are willing to do that. Teams need to play a national schedule to via for the NATIONAL Championship.

I'd love to see another home and home with Tenn.

I believe the next home and home with an SEC team for the Ducks is Georgia. Georgia started to back out, but I think it's been rescheduled and is on again.

GoDucks, as I mentioned, if your predictions are correct, I don't mind buying you tickets for an Oregon game. You're more than willing to donate them to someone (preferrably the 2nd place finisher), but just think about it. You have about a 1/65 chance :)
