Prebyterian Postgame Report

Good stuff, Chris. The only thing I would add is that Powell is improving defensively. He played very well defensively last night. He also moves well without the ball, and has innate basketball instincts, things that can’t necessarily be taught. The guy hustles every minute he’s in the game. Oddly enough, in pregame warmups he was not hitting the 3-ball particularly well.
Got all his misses out of the way. During the game it was nothing but net every time!

yea I did agree it wasn’t good……..just stating it was a strange game in that perspective.

James wasn’t there, Plavsic played more than normal and some of the other guys played less. Heck with James out I would figure Vescovi would get more rebounds…….and he had been however he only got 2 last night.

my only conclusion was I personally wouldn’t get worried about rebounding simply from that particular game……..because it was a very odd one.
PC had 25 turnovers. So there were a bunch of possessions where there was no rebound available to get because there was no shot.

I wouldn't have guessed it quite to this degree going in, but this was one we may as well have not even scheduled. I guess it did get some of the bench guys more playing time, but that's about it for anything worthwhile to take from this one. But we got more of a test than expected out of Tennessee Tech, so I guess it evens out.

11/12 wins out of 18 games are not guaranteed in the SEC so scheduling a few easy buy games before January isn’t a horrible idea. TN plays KY, LSU, and Arkansas twice (also Vandy and USCjr). Plus with Villanova, UNC, CO, TX Tech, Arizona, Texas, and Memphis OOC it is a good idea to get as many games over .500 as possible outside of the conference schedule. Step 1 is to lock down the NCAAT bid.

IMO the scoring differential in these games wasn’t due to TTU being better than Pres instead it was all on UT’s quality of play. Thought it was a lack luster effort right before Thanksgiving

@cardvolfan @cncchris33 this is why I didn’t throw out judgments after last game, goes 5/5 from field and 3/3 from 3 and now how do his numbers look?
You’re dead set on busting people based on your own personal perceptions. Your perceptions are screwed up, man. I threw out real numbers from his and other players previous games. He had a very good game tonight, and I hope that continues. I have no room to judge, but I do have the right to an opinion based on what actually happens during games.

I get that, and that was my point…numbers were pretty damn good after 5 games, had a really bad 6th game and you wanted to use those stats, now he had a great 7th game and those numbers after the 6th game seem pretty irrelevant. That was my point.

No, but you seemed in agreement with Card and mentioned his percentages and EFG, even mentioned if he was Bailey how mad we’d all be at him iirc.
You seem to see what you want to see. You brought up EFG%, not me, by attempting to rationalize his 4-12 shooting performance from 3 against Villanova, saying it equated to a 50% night. I merely provided 4 examples (out of 6 games) in which he had shot poorly from 3 and accurately opined that if he were Victor Bailey, we'd be furious that he kept shooting. But because Vescovi has a much broader-ranging affect on the games, we tend to excuse a poor shooting night from him where we don't for Bailey. It was a credit to Vescovi to make that comparison, not a dig at him.

You did mention his 3pt% not being a positive, but I get what you’re saying….just trying to point out why I wasn’t trying to draw a conclusion based on 6 games.
