Prediction Thread: What Will Oregon's Punishment Be?

I'll guess 15-20 scholarships lost over a period of 2-3 years. Additionally, I foresee a one-year postseason ban. Kelly will be barred from recruiting off-campus for a year or two, but retain his job with the shortest of leashes.

Kelly will be gone. 4 years probation. 30 lost schollys, 2 year post season ban. Major recruiting restrictions. Hefty fine

They might get it out of there soon. I'd bet Neuheisel won't be their coach in '12.

probably, but guerrero hasn't had a very good track record and they'll likely try to hire someone on the cheap again.

snyder was an excellent coach, got them within one play of winning the national championship, and still couldn't recruit well. he actually had better classes at cal despite teh success not coming till his last year. erickson has been successful pretty much everywhere else but asu and that has to mean something.

oregon and cal go head to head for recruits regurally. same cannot be really said for usc and oregon. ucla could benefit also, but they seem to have their head up their arse.

I think Erickson is on the decline a bit... And yeah, I said that ASU has solid seasons every now and then but it's never been sustained.

And my point with Oregon's lost recruits is that for whatever reason, west coast kids seemingly most of the time have a much greater tendency to leave for other conferences. Kids in SEC territory stay in SEC territory, kids in Big XII territory stay in Big XII territory, but whenever a player in Pac-10 territory leaves, he usually goes east.

Basic math is tough! Tedford's worst is 5 wins. UW won 7 last year, 2 years after winning zero.

I got a friendly bet for you. If Kelly is still around after October I will sport an Oregon avy for 1 month. If he is gone, you sport a Tennessee avatar for 1 month. Deal?

so the question must be asked why good coaches can't sustain success if it's a sleeping giant? cal as an example has had one horrible coach after another (only marv levy ever got hired anywhere else) and the only mediocre coach they've gotten turned it around.

outside of QBs i don't see many top recruits going east.

I can up the ante. Loser has to have a Philies avatar and wear a "Tennessee fan"/"Oregon Fan" badge.

Lol. I'm good with the present bet. No way am I sporting a phillies avatar. And I dont think you should have to either.

40 scholarships taken over 4 years. 3 year bowl ban. Shame. Tears. Kelly gets canned.

The only way they come anywhere close to this is if they decide to stonewall the investigation.

Yeah. They have cooperated fully so far and I'm pretty sure USC's dicking around with the NCAA taught them (and everyone else) a lesson.

in my opinion all of this is worse than the sc violations. so if you assume oregon will play ball (no guarantee) i could see them getting similar sanctions.

It's bad, but if money wasn't being paid to the recruits themselves I think the ducks get off lighter than USC. Oregon benefits from the fact that several schools seem to have connections to Lyles, and I don't think the NCAA wants to set a standard that would require them nuking several schools.
