Here are the losses that I have found from UGA:

Mario Raley WR-partial starter
Ray Gant DT-partial starter(decent loss)
Jarvis Jackson MLB-starter(big loss)
Nick Jones C-starter(big loss)
Quentin Moses DE-starter(big loss)
Zeb McKinzey G-backup
Michael Turner T-backup
Gordon Ely-Kelso P-starter(big loss)--eh?
Des Williams FB-backup
Martrez Milner TE-starter(decent loss)--w/out him they lose two more games last year...this is a big loss.
Danny Verdun Wheeler LB-partial starter(decent loss)
Daniel Inman T-starter(big loss)
Ken Shackleford T-starter(decent loss)
Tra Battler S-starter(decent loss)
Joe Tereshinski III QB-partial starter
Tony Taylor LB-partial starter
Charles Johnson DE-starter(big loss)
Danny Ware RB-backup
by my count, that's 5 big losses that they will miss next season......compared to TN:
Jason Swain
robert Meacham
Bret Smith
Justin Harrell
Marvin Mitchell
Aaron Sears
D. Morley

Inky Johnson
Rashaun Fellows

now how big a loss each of those are can be debated....but i'd say it's at the very least equal, if not greater than the losses UGA suffered.

I don't really see Marvin as a big loss. Mayo moves over and McCoy steps in. More athleticsm in the LB corp.

Fellows didn't play l

I forgot about Marvin, I would count him as a decent loss, maybe big. Harrell and Inky can't be counted because neither played enough, nor did Fellows. I forgot about Morley, but he screwed up more than anything.

O, and you forgot about Inman, he was a big loss for UGA(1st team all conference).

your daily dose of reality brought to you by jakez4ut.......sorry gentlemen.

look at it this way....we both suck the same?

in all seriousness.......all of this not withstanding, i still don't consider the UGA a game that we should lose. quite the contrary....but i just don't see why everyone thinks UGA has all these issues and we don't? the reality is that we are pretty much in the same boat....we both have issues to address.......and are about in equal footing in that category. right now it's a push.:salute:

We lost like 13 players when you add Morley. They lost like 18. They also lost more starters.

I would count Kelso as much of a loss as Wilhoit.

Either way, neither of us lost as much as UF and I still don't think USC has enough to push for the top spot. It will be a tossup for the top spot.

Also, as I stated earlier, I think we addressed some of our bigger losses pretty well with JUCOs and prep players.

but him not being available hurst the overall depth at a position we are now real thin at. it's not just about the specific personnel mind you.......the depth of this team, good or bad, affects game planning and a lot of other personnel decisions.........that's why it's relatively important.

i'll give you Inky, but same reasoning as above, as for Harrell.......i don't think there's much doubt that we really missed him up front last year.......and i certainly would feel a little better about the d line this year if we had someone of his caliber up there. for some reason, i like the idea of having future 1st round draft picks playing for my team.:)

Fellows got beat out by Inky. Fellows was third on the depth chart before Berry or Willingham even got on campus. Art Evans was playing in front of him. It's not that big a deal he's gone.

I know the losses hurt depth, but we played most of the year without them last year. We coped with it then. We didn't have to wait until the offseason. They know how it is to not have Fellows out there or Harrell or Inky. Either way, our losses aren't much more, if any(which I think they lost more) than UGA. Our additions are much greater, imo. We have alot of guys coming in this class that can contribute immediately, they don't. Their class was small and almost halfway composed of OL. They lost a ton of OL and DL, we didn't lose too much. We lost athletes and athletes usually can come in and affect the game quicker than linemen.

Depth does matter, but he was a 3rd string player before about 10 newcoming DBs hit campus. I would say that he would be lucky to be the 9th guy in rotation. Evans, Gaines, Johnson, and Kemp were already higher than him. The best of those would have trouble holding off Willingham, McKenzie, or Berry.

He would be behind Jarrod Parrish, Ricardo Kemp, Art Evans, Marsalous Johnson, Jonathan Hefney, Antonio Gains, Antonio Wardlow, Eric Berry, Nevin McKenzie, and DeAngelo Willingham. Evans may redshirt though, so he could break top 10 if he was here.

He would be in the Sinclair Cannon/JaKouri Williams range.

i would agree that their losses in that area will affect more of the overall team than losing the skill position people we lost......no argument there. it all starts up front.
