Well, no quadruple for Liverpool this year. I know that wasnā€™t their first team, but Iā€™m still surprised they didnā€™t manage to score at least one.

Meanwhile, Spurs off to the Spursiest start possible against Villa.

Very real chance we see someone different win the FA Cup this year. 4 of the Sky 6 already out in the 4th Round, and the other two are struggling this year.

Or we could just end up with another all Manchester final.

I wonder if when Chelsea and Arsenal were eliminated if ESPN ran on the ticker that three of their best players didnā€™t play. They literally showed the score on the ticker an hour ago and then it said Salah, Gakpo, and VVD didnā€™t play. I have never seen that before and it takes the glory away from Championship last place Plymouth Argyle.

City is done.

Pep to North London.
Lol. Heā€™s basically spent his entire managerial career operating with unlimited resources. While there are obviously massive mitigating factors, heā€™s currently not even winning with that. Canā€™t even begin to imagine him at a skinflint club like Spurs.

Match was maddening from LFC perspective. Why wasn't Gueye not issued clear second yellow? Why was match allowed to go 2 min past initial 5 min of stoppage time when goal was scored? Why is Everton acting like they won the Super Bowl? Why are their players talking smack after the whistle when they are fighting relegation?

Why did Oliver reach for his pocket to card Bradley and then decide not to give it when he realized heā€™d have to send him off? Why werenā€™t Everton given a penalty when Konate basically did a basketball style behind the back pass in the box? The extra added time was because at least two minutes elapsed when Harrison and Branthwaite nearly knocked themselves out colliding with each other.

You do realize last night was the final Merseyside Derby at Goodison as well as most likely the final ever night game there? Had Liverpool won, they would have finished with a winning record there. Hence the celebrations. Liverpool fans had been singing ā€œwe won the league at Goodison Parkā€ for the better part of ten minutes. Doucoure went over and shushed them after the full time whistle, and Curtis Jones went steaming in like a banshee on him. Hence the fighting.

I would really like to know what Slot said to Michael Oliver to get himself sent off. I thought Oliver lost control of the game very early on and did little to regain it. Also a one or two match ban for Slot at this point in the season is less than ideal...

Not good.

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has confirmed Nicolas Jackson will be sidelined until April with a hamstring injury.

For starters I was a tad butthurt. I don't know why Oliver reached to his pocket for Bradley on the foul you're referencing because I thought it wasn't close to a yellow offense. It didn't seem much of a foul. The foul by Gueye which should have been his second yellow was a clear hold on player who was moving past him with no play on the ball. High percentage of those get carded. Fair point on the stoppage time, but I still felt like a little too much time was given. I think I saw LFC committed 20 fouls to Everton's 9 which seems kind of comical considering how the game was played out.

I also realize it was final at Goodison, and I'm not a no fun person. I love a flare. All for a party in the stands but the bum rush of the field, and no time being added for it was a bit maddening. No different than Vandy storming court on us or us tearing down goal posts against Bama this year - just a tad embarrassing. It looks like Doucoure started the nonsense at the end. Then seniors like Coleman kept trying to antagonize VVD and Mac at end. At least what it looked like to me. Granted I think we will both look at this from our tinted lenses and agree to disagree.

It was a derby. Thatā€™s how they should be.

Goodison Park is a unique place. Iā€™ve never been to another sporting venue quite like it. Itā€™s full-on, for better or for worse. Depending on how the game plays out, itā€™s either the most joyous place on earth, or the most miserable, with almost nothing in between. All that is even heightened for the Derby.

Last night was the wildest, most intense sporting event Iā€™ve ever witnessed in person, and I have a difficult time imagining anything ever topping it. Especially considering it was my final time there. Iā€™ve been at a bunch of good UT games through the years (ā€˜22 Bama, ā€˜04 UF, ā€˜06 Cal immediately come to mind) but this was on another level beyond that. Couldnā€™t have asked for a better way to go out. IMG_0583.png

Injuries finally catching up to a fast start to the season and now a bit of a slump. Jackson out for 2 months. Lavia out again for another month I think it is. Reece James wasnā€™t pictured at practice but I donā€™t think Iā€™ve seen the verdict on him yet. Itā€™s not tons of injuries, but itā€™s key injuries thatā€™ll bite us.

If we want top 4 weā€™re gonna have to do it by playing a different way than we have all season with Jackson out. Nkunku doesnā€™t like to try and get in behind defenders and mainly shines when heā€™s allowed freedom and playing behind a typical 9. Lavias will have the biggest impact imo though. He looks like we got an outright steal on the fee we paid when heā€™s healthy. Itā€™s no wonder why weā€™ve had our best games when heā€™s able to sit back and let Caicedo loose going box to box.

Still, it could be worse. We could be like Arsenal with over half of their attackers out for extended time. Wonā€™t even start with the Spurs.. they are just a team held together by chicken wire and bandaids at the moment.
