I just had my first child last year, so I haven't deducted that yet.

The simple truth of the matter is I paid 32% last year, Buffet's secretary paid 30%, and that is just the way it is.

Tax Brackets (Federal Income Tax Rates) 2000 through 2008

In the words of Captain Barbosa, "the code is really more like a guideline"

I would truely like to help you keep more of your hard earned money...and it is all legal...find a good accountant please

I have found a way already...you said you made under 100K, the chart you posted does not under any catagory, have 32% as your basis...and I am not an accountant..if you are filing as married filing seperatly, that is the worst catagory to file under

Are you going to answer the question or just keep harping that the Bush tax cuts are working?

Let me say this in as simple terms as possible:

I am for tax cuts. I am not for the Bush tax cuts.

There are two sides to this problem. Spending is one. Not enough revenue is the other. I am all for cutting spending, and it is a huge problem.

I believe revenue went up at a higher rate during the Bush years with the lower tax rates - particularly when they were first enacted.

It's much more of spending problem than revenue problem.

We can skin this cat two ways. When adjusted for population growth and inflation economic growth is near identical and revenues are down from the 1990's.

using the aberrant 90s as a basis makes no sense. The capital gains receipts will never again be seen and shouldn't have been seen then. An early to mid 90s look might make some sense, but nothing from the late 90s is real world.

OK. Let's hear how the Bush tax cuts have been beneficial. I am all ears. I guess you like bail-outs and a socialized Wall Street? Obviously the government, even under Bush, thinks they make better use of a dollar.

If you consider raising federal revenues from $1.99T in 2001 to $2.57T in 2007 a good thing you could say the Bush tax cuts have been beneficial. Or if you think that the top 10% of income earners pay 71% of the income taxes and only earn 47% of the income is good, you could say the Bush tax cuts have been beneficial. I would think you would like this.
