Hindsight is 20/20 as they say. Last pandemic of the Covid magnitude was the flu in the early 1900’s. All leaders were searching for guidance from scientific “experts”. Lay folks had little to no way of vetting someone with Fouci’s experience and position. Looking back 2-3 years after we can criticize the scientists mistakes and debate if they were from incompetence or intentional for nefarious reasons but everyone else was just trying to figure this new deadly disease out and how to best avoid getting sick. When I need expertise to address problems that are outside of my experience, I typically turn to the folks who have a long history in that profession for guidance?

Yeah, who knew then that Fauci knew exactly where the virus came from and that he was even helping fund the lab & research.

its certainly not focused on making it great. its focused on making it one person's version of what they want. its all about Trump's America, the fact that most of you are unwilling to critique him on anything meaningful proves that its about Trump and not about America.

great isn't tariffing every nation.
great isn't throwing out political hackery during emergencies. Twice now, CA fires, and the plane wreck.
great isn't kicking veterans out of the military for no other reason than they are trans.
shutting down all the grants and programs has already been shut down.
having a quota for deportations is not great in my book.

depending on what else Trump decides to roll out there are plenty more not great things coming our way under Trump.
based on his first term I doubt we actually get a balanced budget, and all these cuts by Doge will be offset by growth elsewhere.
throwing out threats of violence over Canada, Greenland, and Panama is the opposite of ending wars.
I have very serious doubts about the long term efficacy of his FP in general.
I have very serious doubts about his decision making when it comes to the economy.

Maybe we are both confused. My point is that the FAA was still actively promoting the need for DEI hires when Trump was POTUS for the entirety of his term. Based on that, him blaming this on DEI, is absurd.

It was dumb to bring up DEI in this scenario out of reflexive (justified) fear the crash would be blamed on him. Just address this as the tragedy it is and separate it from political coup (scalps) counting.

However, there's DEI and there's DEI. Advocates, some well-meaning people, will point to the origins in the civil rights movement mid-20th century; all well and good. Then there's the quasi-Marxist intersectionalist agenda, and this is where linguistic intent becomes important. In their minds, '(E)quity' - not equality of opportunity, but allocation according to immutable characteristics and assumed gender-ideology/orientation - is the goal, and D and I are the means to that.

Surrounding himself with career bureaucrats in the first term, I doubt Trump was anymore attuned to CRT, DEI, ESG ideology in the left than the average parent of school-age children in 2016-early 2020. That's when remote-learning began giving everyone an education in the garbage being taught in K-12 and since, an expansive ramp-up of the world's largest investment firms literally threatening an adopt-or-die (by those firms hands) buy-in of those 'progressive' ideas.

We're all, or should be, a bit wiser now. He should have simply continued dismantling DEI in the federal government without co-mingling it with this tragedy.

There’s still not even agreement on things that are treated as if they have proven true on here.

There have been studies from 2022-2024 that continued to find masks to be efficacious.

The situation in 2020 and 2021 with the original virus and the delta variant changed significantly as the virus ran its course and naturally mutated but people pretend that because it’s not a big deal now, it never was.

Maybe both of those groups are being influenced by confirmation bias or maybe one is right and one is wrong. I don’t think you’ll find the answer on here.

Most all of it was BS. They made it up as they went along and tried to bully dissenting voices into silence by labeling them anti science and censoring people on social media.

Then came the vaccine that they told everyone was tested, safe, and effective. They went on to label the outbreak a pandemic of the unvaxxed. It was so well researched that some of them ended up being pulled from the market and all of them ended up requiring boosters (keep in mind if it was tested as they claimed, this would have been known up front).

I’m not willing to give an ounce of grace to any of them. A lot of them, and including Fauci, deserve to be tried for crimes against the people.
