President Donald Trump - J.D. Vance Administration

Hindsight is 20/20 as they say. Last pandemic of the Covid magnitude was the flu in the early 1900’s. All leaders were searching for guidance from scientific “experts”. Lay folks had little to no way of vetting someone with Fouci’s experience and position. Looking back 2-3 years after we can criticize the scientists mistakes and debate if they were from incompetence or intentional for nefarious reasons but everyone else was just trying to figure this new deadly disease out and how to best avoid getting sick. When I need expertise to address problems that are outside of my experience, I typically turn to the folks who have a long history in that profession for guidance?

Sorry, but the correct answer is to make a political issue out of it, dig in your heels, and declare victory no matter what actually happens.

It doesn't take a scientist to understand dust masks weren't going to stop a viral transmission, or grocery stores packed with people were safer than the local hardware store. Or wearing a mask to your table at a restaurant and taking it off once you sit at your table was going to prevent transmission.

Trump should have yanked Fauci and the rest off the air as soon as they started "recommending" idiocy.

They were actually challenged early on and all of that was shut down. Turns out much of the opposition was correct when you got 2-3yrs out to look at it. It really didn't take long to figure out where Fauci and the rest stood. Worst part was Trump allowing it to happen behind his seal

"The freeze refers to several Trump executive orders as the authority -- Protecting the American People Against Invasion (Jan. 20, 2025), Reevaluating and Realigning United States Foreign Aid (Jan. 20, 2025), Putting America First in International Environmental Agreements (Jan. 20, 2025), Unleashing American Energy (Jan. 20, 2025), Ending Radical and Wasteful Government DEI Programs and Preferencing (Jan. 20, 2025), Defending Women from Gender Ideology Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government (Jan. 20, 2025), and Enforcing the Hyde Amendment (Jan. 24, 2025). It immediately ends funding for Green New Deal, NGO support (see JD Vance Suggests Mammon, Not God, May Explain the Stance of US Catholic Bishops on the Migrant Invasion), diversity, and foreign aid programs."
To implement these orders, each agency must complete a comprehensive analysis of all of their Federal financial assistance programs to identify programs, projects, and activities that maybe implicated by any of the President’s executive orders. In the interim, to the extent permissible under applicable law, Federal agencies must temporarily pause all activities related to obligation or disbursement of all Federal financial assistance, and other relevant agency activities that may be implicated by the executive orders, including, but not limited to, financial assistance for foreign aid, nongovernmental organizations, DEI, woke gender ideology, and the green new deal."

The memo does not affect Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, student loans and grants, or social safety net payments to individuals, though some leftist politicians will undoubtedly make that claim.

The 90-day hold is well within the letter of the Impoundment Control Act and is sure to inconvenience some grantees. What it does is prevent the federal government from directly funding activities, like abortion and alien smuggling, that are against the stated policy of the administration. "
My goodness. Trump is a radical, a criminal, a threat to democracy. He must be stopped before he destroys the US and the world.

talk about a great way to crater our economy.

are we going to 100% Tariff those BRICS nations for using their own money?

The problem with Biden is he only ever used the carrot. Trump's problem is that he is only using the stick.

we need someone to provide balance to either approach.

15 days to flatten the curve, social distance, masks, lock downs, etc.

CDC was releasing information (it might still be up on their website) of the transmission rates way before that and the even with full quarantine the virus would still spread to everyone. A quarantine is 100% isolation i.e. nobody in, nobody out.

Everything they were doing was to get a senile dementia patient to win.

Sounds like a perspective from hindsight. At the time I was confused and seeking guidance as were most everyone I knew. Had 4 people in my circle die from it. Dismissing the medical folks in authority as quacks at the time was only shared by a few. Following the advice from the CDC verses following the advice from a vocal minority on social media seemed very risky at the time.

Again, we now have hindsight to shape our opinions as to the failures / successes of the early pandemic decisions.

the Covid thread is still around. you can go see a lot of people were questioning the response from pretty early on.

heck one of our own was on the front line during all of it, and calling it bs as each step happened.

*I am sure others here were also dealing with it as medical professionals, and am not implying they didn't. but @kiddiedoc was the vocal one I am mentioning.*

There’s still not even agreement on things that are treated as if they have proven true on here.

There have been studies from 2022-2024 that continued to find masks to be efficacious.

The situation in 2020 and 2021 with the original virus and the delta variant changed significantly as the virus ran its course and naturally mutated but people pretend that because it’s not a big deal now, it never was.

Maybe both of those groups are being influenced by confirmation bias or maybe one is right and one is wrong. I don’t think you’ll find the answer on here.

Only a ****ing moron would think a freaking face diaper would work in 2020, in 2025.... you have to be a complete 🔩🌰🍩🥜🥥.

There was no way to stop the virus once it hit i.e. transmission rate was way too high. The CDC published the transmission rate by Mar-Apr 2020, iirc.... not even full 100% quarantine would stop it from spreading to everyone.

All of it was a lie, a scam, a hoax, etc. The mask was to make you fearful of what you were going to get, it had no other purpose.... everyone got it and you might not even know you got it.

Quackery was easy to pick out once the "recommendations" started to become ridiculous and nonsensical.

Have they made you chairman of Rockytop85’s Batterer’s Intervention, Therapy, Coping, Healing, & Emotional Support, yet?

If you figured that out in the first 2-3 months then I salute your genius sir. I personally didn’t know what to do other than pray for my loved ones and attempt to take the precautions available to me.

You're the President. You do this to yourself.
Somebody needs to put that to a motion. You’ve earned it. I can’t remember triggering anybody badly enough that they were still following me around yammering like this after I had forgot what I said to set them off.

Was I the one who embarrassed you into changing accounts? Surely not.

I'm not triggered, what you are posting is moronic in nature. That's not my fault.

It made sense to stay away from large groups of people, wash hands often, isolate if feeling sick. It didn't make sense that WalMart could be open but the local Ace Hardware couldn't, it didn't make sense for Pepsi bottling plants to be designated essential while vehicle battery plants were designated non-essential. So once the "experts" threw out common sense how could anyone listen to them?

No, it’s my fault for whatever I said to hurt your feelings and I’m just hoping you’ll tell me what it was because clearly it was incredibly effective.

My feelings are not hurt at all, so your assumptions are incorrect. I think you are projecting now.
