A coalition of 14 state attorneys general said on Thursday that they will file a lawsuit to stop the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) from accessing sensitive federal payment systems.
The attorneys general also argued that President Donald Trump “does not have the power” to grant DOGE access to Americans’ private information or to withhold federal payments approved by Congress.
They planned to pursue legal action to defend “our Constitution, our right to privacy, and the essential funding that individuals and communities nationwide are counting on.”
As the richest man in the world, Elon Musk is not used to being told ‘no,’ but in our country, no one is above the law. The President does not have the power to give away our private information to anyone he chooses, and he cannot cut federal payments approved by Congress.
he cannot cut federal payments approved by Congress.
Let's be honest, not a single american citizen cares about their access to the information if it is being accessed to destroy the system & thieves that have used it to rob each of us. Anyone in opposition is likely a member of the guilty party, looking for something to jump on Trump about or simply just idiots.14 States To File Lawsuit Against DOGE Access To Government Payment Systems | ZeroHedge
How would the States have standing to contest how the executive branch carries out the laws of united states in this instance? Those are federal records and property, and the payments are federal.
I would assume that agency isn't doing it, the President is doing it. But then again, how is this a State issue even if true?
How is that a constitutional issue? What law is being violated? How would the State have standing in this instance even if true?
Why would anyone have an issue with disclosure of payments in this regard? i.e. transparency.... this was all being hidden from the public but I don't see why these companies would expect privacy? They are being provided large sums of money every year.
Okay, what law?
As to the second and third part, I would say that is a broad brush and probably not true as a complete truth. Who said he is giving away "private information", what "private information".
Maybe but what payments are referring to and how is this a State issue in this instance?
Everyone should care about how the sensitive data of tens of millions of Americans is handled. There is absolutely nothing wrong with asking questions about thatLet's be honest, not a single american citizen cares about their access to the information if it is being accessed to destroy the system & thieves that have used it to rob each of us. And by the time they get through these suits and all, the destruction is already done. It's like watching those videos of Somali pirates in little speedboats go up against actual Navy ships that knew where the boats were before they even saw the ship.Let's be honest, not a single american citizen cares about their access to the information if it is being accessed to destroy the system & thieves that have used it to rob each of us. The government, playing by the "rules", already lost a lot of my sensitive information and the information of tens of millions of my "colleagues" once in the last few years. I trust a Musk-lead team to be more secure than the chuckle****s managing it before.Everyone should care about how the sensitive data of tens of millions of Americans is handled. An injunction is still too late. All they need to do is keep feeding to the public exactly what this money is being wasted on. They've already got pretty much all of it.They are going to run into the bureaucratic they themselves created. Probably some silly judge will issue a temporary injunction on this or that or something that doesn't make sense but at the end of the day all it looks like they're just getting data dumps and sorting/organizing it for the public. The ones that scream the most, are probably the most guilty.
