I'll entertain that we don't have the money the day the GOP entertains that tax cuts for the 1% are unnecessary and doesn't balance the budget.
Right now everyone in charge is in agreement that debt doesn't matter. To an extent, we really are just paying ourselves interest with our own money we loan to the government, but basically no one is actually serious about an all-of-the-above tax and spend reform.
But IF we are going to spend money we don't have, better the wind farm than Jeff Bezos.

Yes, there are issues with preferences in the tax code but our deficit issues get solved the moment we properly address the spending....

Here's something you need to come to grips with.

In Trump's first term, Trump trusted and appointed some folks that were historically a part of the establishment. They turned on him with the rest of the swamp that he was trying to drain. He will not do that again. If you don't get used to a lot of outsiders being pulled in, you will have a saturated pillow for quite some time.

I guess they also agree with the grade school approach to doing it. Not a problem cleaning out the government of garbage but the approach should be done in an adult manner. Individual 2nd grade essay requests is just plain childish.

That would be the tax (just like it is today that you pay on top of your 1040) and it would be uniform and not involve partisanship as you suggested, and wouldn't require administration. They have been doing it your whole life to a large degree. The IRS is doing something that clearly isn't needed, they put fictional (don't exist) items from one account to the account.... as are a great deal of overhead at the business and personal level i.e. accountants. Waste.
