Layoffs were happening the last 6 months of 2024. UPS, FedEx and several others announced pretty big layoffs last spring and summer.

Corporate layoffs have been going on for 6-12 months now. International Paper has been through 3 rounds in the last year.

I’ve never understood using stock prices as an excuse for layoffs. Either you were running the business inefficiently and didn’t care because you’re stock price was where you wanted it to be or you’re going to hurt your business by canning essential people.

I've been in real estate Development since the early 90s. I got out of Residential about 4 years ago. Have Commercial property in the Chattanooga area. I thought it was the best I'd every bought when purchased.Virtually no lookers. I've been told things are dead in Knxville, Chatt, and memphis. Good in Nashville.
At 73 I want out.

CEOs of large companies answer to cutting cost usually seems to be laying off employees. Essential or not. Not unlike what is going on at the Fed govt now.
