President Joe Biden - Kamala Harris Administration

Reagan actually turned us around in slightly over two years (although the full turn took about 4). But then Teagan had to do so against a Democrat Congress. With a Republican majority in both houses and a Supreme Court majority, President DeSantis should be able to improve on that
I know you will not like what I am about to say. I expect a vehement denial from you.
Reagan for all the good he did, was actually a significant contributor to where we are today.

In terms of his failure to reign in government spending and reach? If so, I will actually agree with you somewhat. I will counter posit though that he got what he could from a recalcitrant Congress. But I wish we could have gotten more.
I think Regan was the first step towards restoring the United States. Where the wheels came of was in his unfortunate choice of successor. Bush 41 was a stereotypical Country Club Republican and neocon; happy to wear the label of Conservative as long as he could go around starting wars at Will and not being held to the reading of his lips regarding no new taxes. After Bush 41, every successive Republican nominee for President came from the Same Bush/McCain/Romney mold. That is why the Republican base finally rebelled and finally vomited out the lukewarm water served up every four years and nominated Trump. This resulted of course in bringing down the combined wrath, weight, and vengeance of both establishments upon him that made his life a living hell for 4 years. A man of less strong will would have folded but Trump didn’t which was (to me at least) his one redeeming quality. The key now is 2024, do we let the Republican establishment try to force a nauseating snot wad (pardon the gross metaphor but it fits) upon us again or do we nominate someone with the strength of a Trump but without the arrogance and hubris? A Trump backbone melded with the Regan hope, wit, grace, and decency.
That is my hope at any rate. Trump shone a light on all the beady little eyes that glow back when you point it at a swamp after dark. Now we need some people actually willing to drain it.

It's not like Trump was the answer, or even a start. Considering the extra 7.8 trillion Trump added to the deficit. Out of 31 trillion. Even before Covid he had added more than 5 trillion. Almost 1/6th of our total added before Covid. The deficit and debt increased every year under Trump.

Yeah that was bad. I think he was trying to be a deal maker to get some things done but there ended up being nothing fiscally conservative about his agenda. He talked about it during the campaign and got sinked into the swamp.

I mainly referenced debt with Reagan. But he also got played with illegal immigration amnesty. And I think, may be mixed up, that additional gun restrictions were passed during his 2 terms. R historians ascribe blame to Tip O'Neill and the Ds for RWR's anti-R legacies.
But I believe RWR knew politics much better than that. He was governor of Cali, after all. He trusted the Ds as if this was his first rodeo. It wasn't.

Like many presidents, he did some good and some bad. He was likeable, a gifted communicator, and by all accounts a man of decency. He loved America.

We should have converted to natural gas decades ago IMO
The natural gas provider turned on service at a rental 2 weeks ago. I struck up a convo as he did his work. Noticed his truck idling on the street. Diesel. I said, I find it ironic the natural gas provider uses diesel in the pickup trucks. He said it is too expensive to convert the trucks over to make sense.
NG may make sense for industrial applications but if the gas Co can't use it in vehicles, what hope do we have?

What if they were built to run on them and not built requiring conversion?

They need to make up their minds.

Are they for Oil?
Are they against Oil?
I will replace the term “oil” with “fossil fuel” and then make my observation. It doesn’t matter if someone is for or against fossil fuels, no matter what they say. They are a fact of life. Alternative energy remains a unicorn and pixie dust dream. You might as well ask if someone is for or against breathing. Baring some amazing technological advance, fossil fuels aren’t going anywhere for the next half a century at least.
But actually there are three alternatives before us: 1) Continue to utilize fossile fuels as we do now, supplementing with alternative sources wherever it makes economic sense 2) restart nuclear power as a significant energy supply or 3) drastically reduce the energy footprint of humanity and basically turn us back into a pre industrial society (which would be UNBELIEVABLY worse for the environment than where we are now). I actually suspect the left of favoring option 3 as it meshes seemlessly with their twin goals of destroying capitalism and private property and their pathological desire to control individual behavior (rationing energy gives you almost limitless control over the populace)

It’s the conversion. New vehicles will run on NG

I know there were lots of “signed letters” in the Age of Trump (there is an important one in the Laptop Saga).

But wasn’t there one from a bunch of Physicians that essentially said they thought he was crazy? We’ve seen and heard him on TV and he’s unstable.

Didn’t one of those come out?

The reason that U.S. shale producers aren't already producing more is that they know that whenever their increased production is no longer politically convenient for the idiot-in-chief, he will pull the rug out from under them again. You can't make multiple year investments when you're dealing with an administration that is openly hostile to your very existence.

Like I said previously, why would you trust an administration that is openly hostile to your very existence?

Yes, and it’s an interesting phenomenon that seems relatively new: A letter of opinion from a very small sample of biased professionals that is meaningless but is latched onto by political foes to drive the news cycle.

One of the best arguments against NG fueled cars is energy content. This is for a tri fuel capable generator; look at the output dependent on type fuel. Second issue is dealing with a gas rather than a liquid, and compressing the gas in a vehicle and making it crash worthy. Neither form is inherently safe, but at least gasoline isn't compressed and leaks are all about gravity rather than pressure. I'm just pointing at some weaknesses, and don't profess to have experience or expert opinion.

  • 9400 Starting Watts / 7500 Running Watts - Gasoline
  • 8450 Starting Watts / 6750 Running Watts - LPG
  • 6900 Starting Watts / 5500 Running Watts - Natural Gas

That was the next big thing when I worked for IR back in the 90's and the bigs were salivating with prospective sales. Not gonna happen

Look at all the anti nuclear power "experts" over the decades, and what could be our best option for generating electric power.

Funny how France, as far as I know has no quibbles about energy shortages. From my understanding NE tech has come a long way in safety and such, but I am not a scientist
