I agree and disagree here. Hindsight works well in this situation and nobody knew how much of a monster Fauci was going to turn out to be. But the public did need to hear from an "expert" in the beginning. It was thought he was neutral in the beginning, but ended up coming across as Revenge of the Nerds.

So, on the same token, he was allowed to hold the mic far too long. However, had Trump canned him or limited his access it would have been portrayed as retaliatory. The media kept saying the same "trust the science" the whole time and they weren't going to be stopped worshiping the Fauci god.

It may have been able to be headed off in the beginning (I thought Ben Carson would have made an excellent choice to run the Task Force) but once it was in motion, there was nothing else that could have been done.

Pence ran the task force for the WH. Had Trump not needed the spotlight he could have directed all info to come from Pence's team and given him Fauci's mic time. It was recognized very early on that Fauci was making statements not based on science or actual data. He should have been removed from view

He won't make that one again? How about he should never be allowed to make a decision to monumentally stupid and destructive ever again? There were other choices both times and Trump won the primary. Just own that horrible choice

Yeah, Pence wasn't helping either... which is why I mentioned Carson. He has the academic background for that while Pence was just a politician.

I agree with you on principle, but after the first month or two, any attempt at dismissing Fauci or even limiting his time on camera would have been seen as a retaliation move by Trump. He truly was in a damned if he did, damned it he didn't situation.

And he couldn't fire him..I think Pence would have done the same allowing Faucci the mic

I don't think anywhere that I have said it was a good choice. I have said numerous times I want to see Fauci brought up on crimes against humanity charges and hanged. One mistake isn't cause enough to re-elect this current America destroying disaster again though. Hell, 50 mistakes isn't enough. Trump should be the next president unless this country has completely lost it's mind.
