Eric Shawn: Tehran targets Americans, here at home
Jul. 18, 2021 - 8:10 - Lisa Daftari on her experience and the Iran plot to allegedly kidnap U.S. journalist Masih Alinejad in New York City

I haven't been optimistic about a politician in a long time, but I try not to start out assuming the worst.

I don't get how you thought a person they were keeping on medicine with the rhetoric coming out of the party was a cause for optimism, especially given his record.

Joe Biden's victory made me believe Walter Mondale and Dan Quall would've been viable, front running candidates today.

Read my post. Did I say I was optimistic? There's a difference between being optimistic and not expecting the worse or takin a wait and see approach. I know that's hard for some on VN to understand, but it is what it is.

I also have seen clips of Biden flubbing a speech etc, but that is not evidence to me he's being propped up with meds.

Think I read at one point they were priced higher per pound than chicken breasts...crazy

I was going to make a few burgers the other night and the pack of regular 1.79lb ground beef was almost $9. Then there was packs of 2 pre-patted ground chuck burgers weighing .80 for $3.50. Didn’t make much sense to me.

I bought some frozen hamburger patties (8) in the frozen food section to grill out for $4.99

Yeah because not being able to get your favorite 20 piece mixed from Hooters is equivalent to a nationwide poultry shortage 🤡

Restaurants face nationwide chicken shortage

Outbreaks of the coronavirus in meat processing plants early on in the pandemic forced many plants to close, putting further strain on the supply chain. Supplies were further constricted in February, when some chicken farms in Texas had to temporarily shut down because of Winter Storm Uri.

You know, not to thread drift, but why/when did we start naming winter storms?

Everyone knows what you're talking about when you say "hey, remember that winter storm in January of 2021?". Nobody says "hey, remember Winter Storm Uri?".

I think it was a Weather Channel gimmick. A storm sounds more ominous if it has a name.

I went to Hardee’s this week during lunch break and they didn’t have chicken tenders and didn’t know when they get some in.

I think it has insurance implications also. My boat insurance has different deductible plans for named storms.
