That's a bit misleading because Trump was always right at 43 %, give or take 2 points. That was his ceiling because only a combination of the cult and diehard GOPers (i.e. never a Dem) would vote for or support him.
Biden has at least some cross over possibilities with more moderate GOPers. Not that they'd ever vote for him, or just not vote for Trump. But in terms of approval Biden could manage at least some anonymous, "meh, he's not so bad" nods.
He just didn’t like the results of the poll abd is stuck in the bargaining phase of acceptance.
Can't fault him for this take.Report: Jon Gruden Called Joe Biden ‘Nervous Clueless P*ssy’ in Controversial Emails
Jon Gruden, who recently resigned from his position as head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders after the revelation of emails using racial and misogynistic language, once called Joe Biden a “nervous clueless p*ssy.”

What is good, or as you are marginalizing "not so bad"?
It's all relative, don't lose sight of that.
As a moderate, I'm unhappy with Biden in SOME respects for lack of rebuke of the extremes in the party. On the other hand, I recognize that he is giving ground only when he absolutely has to.
Contrast that to Trump, who not only kowtowed to the extremes in his party, but actively rejected moderates. He did it because moderate is boring. He did not get the laud applause he feeds off of at events with moderates. He needed the adulation of the farthest right to keep that arrogant high going.
If you claim to be a moderate, you may roll your eyes at Biden. But you have to vomit at Trump.

You are correct, it is "relative". A Dem Party that has gone so far left that moderate is radical.
Trump is/was a 1990's Dem. You need some historical perspective. Dems in the 1990's would think your party has gone batshit crazy.
Again. what are you happy about, even marginalized?
How do you think the GOP in 2000 would view Trump? With horror I imagine.

The Biden WH is wrecking our travel agenda. Southwest Airline is failing it's customers because of the vaccine mandate crap that Joe & the Democrats insist everybody take the jab. People are tired of being treated like they're dumb & can't manage their own life without Biden being a dictator & forcing government on people. Democrats will pay dearly in the 2022 elections.
They are hoping they've f**ked it up so bad by then that it doesn't matter. Even worse, if they've fundamentally changed the laws to make it easier to cheat. And a boatload of new entitlements that people will riot if they lose with billions in freebies to illegals and foreign adversaries.
