This may not fly though
The law specifically prohibits a person from serving as chief of the Defense Department within seven years after relief from active duty as a commissioned officer of a regular component of an armed force. Mattis retired in 2013.

Flynn vs Mattis is going to be amazing to see unfold.
How come? Do you have a funeral to attend?
It is going to be ugly, i fully admit that. I doubt we will even score. If we do, it will be special teams or by accident.
On the brighter side for me and for most Vols fans, looks like we will both end up close to home. Projections are us versus Louisville here in Orlando. That will probably be well attended and at least somewhat hyped.
And you guys..... Music City! How far is that, like a couple hours? And you get Minnesota.
So you got that going for you. Which is nice.
Think CBJ deserves a raise and some job security for coughing up a lung against S. Carolina and Vandy?
Look, we may suck too, but we won the games we were supposed to. Had you done so, the roles would be reversed.
I would assume this is someone you are recruiting? Not seeing a QB from Texas on your 24/7 ranking
Florida has joined Texas A&M and Auburn in the race for the services of Baylor quarterback transfer Jarrett Stidham, according to a report from 247sports.com.
Florida wants to give the former five-star recruit an in-home visit and host him on an official visit in Gainesville before he makes his decision.
Stidham started the back-end of the 2015 season for Baylor after Seth Russell suffered a season-ending neck injury. But Stidham left Baylor over the summer because he did not want to risk spending another season behind Russell as a backup. He enrolled at McLennan Community College to save a year of eligibility as he sat out the season due to NCAA transfer rules.
Stidham has already visited Auburn and is being heavily recruited by A&M. He has spent much of his fall deer hunting and working with a personal trainer.
