About an hour after the speech, Wilson released the following statement offering "sincere apologies" to the president:

"This evening I let my emotions get the best of me when listening to the president's remarks regarding the coverage of illegal immigrants in the health care bill. While I disagree with the president's statement, my comments were inappropriate and regrettable. I extend sincere apologies to the President for this lack of civility."

Yes he did... I'm sorry I absolutely have hated pretty much everything Obama and the Democrats have forced onto us in the last 2.5 years, but just because I disagree with someone or someone is doing something wrong you still have to have some level of decorum or decency.

Not only that, all that little tantrum is going to do is help take the focus off of what was said (or really not said) in the speech. I can already see that the talking heads will focus mostly on that instead of the gaping holes in the speech Obama gave.

do you think they're going to talk about the gaping holes? they're going to say how wonderful the speech was. i'm glad that guy stood up and called out hussein. he is full of lies and he need to be called out on it. i would tell all those guys to 'eff' off if they complained about me. this healthcare problems is much larger than some protocol, which is the problem with our government.

You are lost in your own kind of self sustaining ignorance as well. In so much as you continue to look down from your perch upon which sits the arrogant, the omnipotent, representative of the ones who have always stood on the backs of the poor and less fortunate. Whom would rather insult than contribute, simply because of the inability to accept that someone has an opposing point of view. Whose greatest accomplishment is the ability to complain.

You don't think the democrats have always stood on the shoulders of the poor and less fortunate? They haven't been used as a political tool, promised more in return for their support, rallying their support every election when they need them ahile every year their neighborhoods remain cesspools. Have they really delivered or are those people simply pawns in the democrats end game?

Don't get me wrong, the republicans are no better in this arena but lets at least be practical about it.

It is always the same, those in power set the agenda and those who are marginalized complain. For what it's worth the republicans have come up with some plans for reform themselves while standing in opposition to Obama's plan. Obama has backed off of some of his proposals but remains stubbornly set on advancing others. Many of them have been demonstrated to be severely flawed by the CBO and others.

the precedent was set 10yrs ago that it was fine to interrupt the Presidents speech with booing, etc. It was done to Clinton and Bush so why is it out of line now?

Pundits called Dems' reaction during Bush address "unprecedented," but Republicans booed Clinton | Media Matters for America

MARYANNE MARSH (Democratic strategist): I don't ever remember hearing it, and was very surprised. But I have to say at least the good news is the Democrats are fighting and they're on offense. And they're more united than they've ever been against George Bush and the Republicans. [FOX News, The Big Story with John Gibson, 2/3/05]

I think that booing or mumbling restlessly sort of happens occassionally. I know I see that on meetings of the House of Commons when I catch it from time to time as I flip through channels.

Not sure I recall anyone actually shouting out "Liar!" before. That may be a first.

I heard this morning that his opponent in the next election recorded a surge in contributions last night, something like $100,000 over night. Oops.

It was out of line then too. I got so hacked when the Democrats acted so petty against Bush, and wouldn't stand during the state of the unions or would boo. It's just bad form. So, just because I most likely agree with the guy politically who did the interrupting, does not mean he's just magically in the right after 8 years of griping about the same behavior from the other side.

Did anyone catch the brief two second clip of a guy setting in the audience with ,I assume it was the audience but may have very well been a Repub.. Who had what looked to be a white 16 by 14 poster in his lap with sparkled letters that read BULL. Sounds like the secret service had a busy night.

He didn't need to apologize.
The idiot needs to apologize to Republicans and those Americans who hate the idea of government run anything.

This is the type of crap that galvanizes crumbling support. It's the only type of thing that might save Obama's plan. If people approach this rationally, federalized anything will die, but making it personal or emotional will saddle us all.

I'm pissed.

My sentiments exactly. People don't seem to get that it doesn't even matter whether he was right or not. It was just a completely idiotic thing to do from a political standpoint.

Every Democrat can now go play the "We want to work together, but the Republicans don't" card.

Spot on BPV.

The right has this argument won on facts and merit alone. Appealing to the lowest common denominator only bolsters support for the other side.

Lunch today a colleague says that Obama ought to invite the guy to the White House to discuss his concerns. He could never go -- it would be the end of his political career -- but by not going, it would be useful proof that Republicans as a whole are bought and paid for by insurance industry and that the whole opposition is a farce designed to preserve the status quo at any price.

He would be the FIRST republican that has been invited to come talk to BHO about health care. The other meetings have not been about listening to the other side, they were for show. Wait.....this would be too.

BHO keeps saying that the Republicans are not offering any solutions. They were holding up proposals, last night, that BHO will not even acknowledge and Pelosi and Reid will not allow in.

I'm thinking maybe Herr Obama paid the senator to scream, "Liar". Now one is paying attention to the real issue of another government run agency which will cost more than it's worth. I had socialized healthcare in Germany. Not a fan.

My Dad and I were saying the exact same thing this morning. Everybody knows that any Republican consultation is purely window dressing, but this one is teed up nice and high for Obama to take advantage of the situation.
