ric, do you want to go back to the Bill Battle days of giving preference to unrated Tennessee kids who bleed orange? That did not work very well last time the Vols tried it and back then there were no pesky scholarship limits nor strict enforcement of recruiting violations.
Thank God most of us would rather win. Of course, given the choice I would prefer a team full of guys like Berry who bleed orange and are 5* All Americans.i would rather have the kid who bleeds orange given the choie
They may not be the the only good players but odds are that they are the closest thing anyone can get to a sure-fire homerun player. For the most part these are the kids who come to school ready and able to make a difference immediately if given the opportunity.Never said that. But these high school all-american teams are not the only good players in the country. Not even close.
no UTK commits listed in either AA game (Army or ESPN). And yeah, most highly rated guys get named to the AA rosters even if they do not decide to suit up and play. Keep fiddling while Rome burns if you like.

These are a list of players that were not HS All-Americans.
Jerod Mayo, Jonathon Hefney, Erik Ainge, Denarrius Moore, Daniel Lincoln, Michael Crabtree, P.J. Hill, DeMeco Ryans, Amobi Okoye...etc. Just because your not in the All-American games doesn't mean you can't make an impact.
