Just saw on Facebook that the band won't be making the trip. It's Facebook I know not the most reliable source. Anyone know anything about that?

They dont go to all away games, would get too expensive. I wish they could afford it though, always love hearing rocky top!

Think they are going to uga, vandy and ole miss. I don't think we brought them to Oregon last year either. Hopefully they will at least bring a pep band.

Yeah, I read something to that effect yesterday.

Found this from the sports anchor on channel 5 in Nashville.

Steve Layman: The Tennessee band isn't going to Oklahoma Saturday, so instead of dueling fight songs we'll just get Boomer Sooner 140 times.

Not surprised they aren't taking the entire band. Very expensive.

BUT, not taking a pep band is ridiculous. It may not be up to our athletic dept. Many schools now longer allow visiting teams to bring pep bands. I don't know the particulars of this situation. Either way though, we should be allowed by OU to bring a pep band and our athletic dept. should be happy to pay for it. It just seems petty if OU won't allow it and/or our folks won't pay for it.

Just my two cents. :twocents:

I will warn everyone that the OU yell leader (or whatever you call them) shoot off guns each time they score and at kickoffs. Super annoying.

Could this have any anything to do with home teams wanting to keep those seats/tickets available to sell? Just curious

No band to Oklahoma. Only full band trip is to Vandy. That's how much the AD is willing to pay.

The athletic department was on the verge of bankruptcy not long ago, so no offense to the pride but funding the sports that make money for the pride to exist are going to get the funds right now unless CD sales go through the roof soon. Once the funds get built back up maybe the pride will become regulars at away games but until then just table scraps

A lot of schools just don't do it anymore unless it's a fairly close game.

Yeah it is. Of course there's not much about OU that isn't annoying...
