Prince going pro?

Stacey Augmon to JP Prince= good comparison.

Michael Redd to JP Prince= moron comparison.

I'm surprised Augmon didn't elect to become a three point shooting champion since it's so easy to improve your shot as Unimane suggests.

This is a much better comparison than the Redd one.

Well, considering the statements were that "JP doesn't have a jump shot", then, yes, it was in context of the argument.

And, you are still missing the point, either willfully or negligently. The argument is not that JP will become one of the top three point shooters in the NBA.

The argument is that JP plays like a specific player in the NBA who could not shoot well enough to remain in the league early in his career. He then made himself into a great shooter. JP, as a similar player, could similarly make himelf into a better shooter and become an NBA regular. He doesn't have to be as good as an Olympian and All-Star regular to earn a spot.

However, Redd, among others, shows that you can drastically, or even just moderately, improve your shooting and become an NBA regular.

Are people completely missing the point that Redd sucked as a shooter in college and then made himself into a shooter in the NBA and compare him with the things we are saying regarding JP? JP can make himself into a good shooter is the point, not that he'll become lethal from three point range.

I think this is very, very unrealistic. I understood your point; but it's not easy to go from being a pathetic shooter to being any kind of threat with your shot. Augmon is a great example of that.

With that said, I definitely hope JP makes a roster; he was a warrior for us this year.

Yeah, but people make themselves into good shooters all the time. It's one of the few things guys in the NBA typically improve upon because they are forced to do so. Someone like JP hasn't really needed to be a great shooter because no one could guard him off the dribble until he got to college. Even then, there weren't a lot of guys who could do so. Plus, when he got into an environment where he finally needed to work on his jumper, he got a serious tooth surgery and two off season shoulder surgeries.

In any event, JP has great hands and coordination, a fluid game, so adjusting his shot shouldn't be too much of an issue, especially with the opportunity to finally do so.

Like I said, to me, JP is the one with the most NBA potential of anyone on the team. I would actually be surprised if he didn't make a club. I wouldn't say the same for Wayne, though I hope he will. Scotty, too. I'm afraid, though, he's headed for Yarbrough-land, where he gets drafted on athletic ability, but soon finds himself in a third rate German league.

i cant believe im sayin it but i could actually see J.P. gettin picked up in free agency. Maybe a western conference team would pick him up to play defense on kobe, he could actually pose problems for kobe with is hight and athletisism

Stretch of the day/...month/.....Year.....century. Sorry bud, I love JP too, and I believe he can WORK his way to a shot in the league, but Kobes abusing our boi. Period

Great comparison. I think Prince is also remarkably similar to Ray Allen, Mark Price, and Jason Kapono.

Hey, I agree with you on something! No, I guess not. Prince will play in the NBA. :salute:

Here is the reality though. You have pointed out one very good example of somebody who drastically improved their shooting ability to be able to be productive in the NBA. Now how many other athletes that 'just needed a jumpshot' tried to do the same thing but where unsuccessful? The odds are certainly not in JP Prince's favor in terms of developing into a quality shooter. But if you were simply pointing out that it is 'possible' through the Redd example then we can agree on that. It is possible. But there were many more examples of players like Redd that tried to improve their jumpshot and were unsuccessful.

Some perspective, I like it.
