If we were to cut out the mountains of waste in the defense budget we could do the same job we're doing now for at least 80% of the current costs. Cutting waste does not equal lower quality just the same as cutting quality does not translate into cutting waste.

i'm not denying that, but nobody ever claimed space travel to be safe. and WTF, weren't you republicans just complaining about the space program being cut... so on one hand, it is a success story when it can be used to further your cause, but it's not a success story when it goes against your cause.

I'm all for killing NASA. The private sector is almost to the point where it can take over. The waste in NASA is staggering considering its tiny budget.

read my previous posts... Whichever party cut the military budget, claiming its still the same quality but more efficient, would get killed by the other side.

the gov't has no incentive to make itself more efficient. this is why it is a poor substitute for the private sector.

I don't know, I would say WWII was a pretty good success. Private industry helped fuel the victory, but the government managed it well all things considered.

But yes, for the most part pickings are slim.
