Pro football focus graded Joe Milton out better than anyone else on the team Saturday night in Gainesville.

For all the idiots blaming the quarterback, a large portion of the offensive line graded out in the 40s…

Wow, if he’s that good then maybe it’s time to question the crayola playbook, amongst other things that just seem completely off about this team.

PFF is garbage, but Milton was not the problem last night.

Defense got gashed the entire 1st half; similar to the SC game last year. O-line made a gazillion mistakes and had way too many stupid penalties. And the refs were godawful; multiple plays where you could see our WRs literally being pulled backwards by Florida's DBs and somehow PI wasn't called.

Milton looked pretty good once he got going.

May as well throw out any hopes for Milton making an accurate throw on the move or doing much with his legs at this point.

Amazing arm but he just really isn't athletic enough to throw from different angles or stick a throw off balance.

I don’t think he has to do much to improve. He just needs to run a bit more. There were 3-5 times i can recall in second half alone he had a free 5-10 yards on to just tuck and run. That no call holding play on Keyton on 2nd and 10 there was 15 yards wide open hole for him to run…. I really think things will open for Milton if he can add that run threat to his game. That’s how Hooker took it to another level as 2021 season progressed

The play calling was bizarre last night. We looked sharp that first drive and then we rarely attempted anything downfield in the middle until too late in the game.

I am here.

How the heck do we know what we have, or who is the weak link, when this offense and play calling is not in the same stratosphere as last year?

I don’t even know what the hell we are doing. Very discombobulated. Bi-polar.

I can't figure out if Joe is any good or not. There is so much worse stuff going on around him that it's hard to know where his performance stands.
I think his play between the whistles is pretty good but the pre-snap stuff is pretty bad. He is not operating the offense with any tempo or sense of urgency, checking late not knowing how much time he has left on the snap clock etc. Not what you would expect from someone who has been playing college football for 5 years.

Amen, brother.

The SEC is won and lost in the trenches. We lost... BADLY.

SMH.

Blaming the qb for every loss is the laziest form of football analysis
Yep, THIS^ its what the drivebys do but its not entirely their fault they are drinking and this is just a passing thing for them to do put a Orange shirt on and join in just hear some girl say we need a new QB and the chant begins.
The same happens if the D wins the game for us or the WRs make some incredible catches. The drivebys will say dang QB was on tonight great win.
The old idiom the QB gets either all the blame or all the credit. Because most fans are quite frankly fanatical😂

Milton is hit or miss, but I do think yesterday solidified that nearly every position group save maybe the DL and RBs has massive issues.

I think going forward the Milton question may come more down to which QB better suits the group that surrounds him

To use a computing analogy, I think it comes down to processing speed. Hendon just worked at an incredibly fast „clock speed“. He got the play call, looked over the defense, and made his preliminary decision very rapidly which made the tempo effective. Milton seems indecisive and keeps looking to the sideline for guidance. Which gives the defense time to think as well. He makes good decisions but takes way too long to reach them. So his stats will look good; but the offense will not do what it is designed to do; score loads of points in a hurry.
Milton is not a Heupel style QB. No knock on him personally, it just is a mismatch

How good is Milton as a runner? He's not quick but it feels like we could be doing more with him on called runs--a sweep with lead blockers, perhaps--to at least keep the chains moving. Clearly, our offensive line is not as good as last year's line, and Milton isn't Hooker, so there's been an obvious falloff in our offense, as we saw last night. This is why we have to lean on our defense more. You can't fall behind by 20/21 points to decent/solid teams and expect to win--not happening.

Actually, Hooker spent a lot of time standing in the pocket last year on many plays; it's just that he had a better offensive line and more protection than Milton had last night. Look at what turned out to be the last, game-winning pass to McCoy against Bama last year---Hooker stood in the pocket a long time before making that throw.
