Pro football focus graded Joe Milton out better than anyone else on the team Saturday night in Gainesville.

I don’t think he has to do much to improve. He just needs to run a bit more. There were 3-5 times i can recall in second half alone he had a free 5-10 yards on to just tuck and run. That no call holding play on Keyton on 2nd and 10 there was 15 yards wide open hole for him to run…. I really think things will open for Milton if he can add that run threat to his game. That’s how Hooker took it to another level as 2021 season progressed

Thats been my biggest issue with him.

He has left opportunities to run and make positive plays in all 3 games this season.

Can deal with some accuracy issues if they will let him stretch the field. Problem with stretching the field is the shoddy O line play though.

They need Mays back in a bad way.

I’m not solid on Joe, but I do believe the offensive line has something to do with it and quite a few are not putting enough out on the line.

I think I saw 3 bad throws and a terrible decision to throw the ball as opposed to taking the sack.

I did see a couple of great throws and some missed PI calls.

I can see that. Offensive line was garbage. Defensive line underwhelmed. Linebackers we're not good. Secondary is complete garbage.

Maybe, but do you think we win that game with Hooker? I do
I think an argument could be made either way. But I also think we win that game with Caleb Williams. So what? Joe is not an extraordinary player but he didn’t sink us. I think we sooner win with a competent OL or secondary

Yep, THIS^ its what the drivebys do but its not entirely their fault they are drinking and this is just a passing thing for them to do put a Orange shirt on and join in just hear some girl say we need a new QB and the chant begins.
The same happens if the D wins the game for us or the WRs make some incredible catches. The drivebys will say dang QB was on tonight great win.
The old idiom the QB gets either all the blame or all the credit. Because most fans are quite frankly fanatical😂
^^^ post of the day!!!! I hope the morons who are pissed at Joe stay home next week so the beer and bathroom lines are shorter.

Hooker alone? Doubtful with the same play calls we saw from Heupel.

When given the chance to drop dimes, Joe did pretty well, just like Hooker would've.

When all that's being dialed up 85% of the time is screens and handoffs, Hooker wouldn't have made a difference.

It's not the QB when the coach is calling a conservative game every week.

The coach is calling a conservative game because of an inept o-line. The few times we tried to throw across the middle the ball was batted in the air so I am not sure what more he could have done.

PFF is garbage, but Milton was not the problem last night.

Defense got gashed the entire 1st half; similar to the SC game last year. O-line made a gazillion mistakes and had way too many stupid penalties. And the refs were godawful; multiple plays where you could see our WRs literally being pulled backwards by Florida's DBs and somehow PI wasn't called.

Milton looked pretty good once he got going.
We have a lot of problems. With our defense, the DBs have to be able to come down and tackle. That is how it is designed. McDonald has consistently shown that he isn’t that guy, but everyone else is worse. We have a bad marriage between scheme and DB development.
The offensive line is as bad as we thought. They are terrible. That was always a concern. If you count on Ollie Lane as a starter, you aren’t an SEC o-line. The LBs played really well. This is a spill defense and we consistently spilled to the alley where they would beat the filling safety to the ball. No group is developing players better than at LB.
I thought Thornton and Milton’s grades were not representative of the impact they had on the game. Both could be game breakers and we need them to be but they aren’t. That is part of the frustration: comparing them to whom they replaced, it is a big drop.
This is an average team who can be hot, cold, or meh. We were meh and were beaten.
If we play well, we can win any and every game. Our schedule is SOFT. The overall conference is down as most teams are replacing a lot of starters, especially QBs and OL.

I said when he went out that we needed Mays back ASAP to lead the OL and I'm hoping for his return. Even then, it takes a boatload of snaps to get a center, O-line, and QB to be as efficient as we'd like.

If we cannot find an OL that can handle an SEC defense and keep pre-snap penalties to a minimum, it's going to be a very, very long season.

If it's so bad Heupel can't run his offense, we're really screwed. His "second choice" or "what I have to run because I have no OL" offense is not going to win even if Hooker, Brady, Peyton, or Patrick Mahomes were running it.

I get the sense there just isn’t a team leadership culture developed yet this year. It’s like the players aren’t holding each other accountable

This is his 6th year. When do we expect him to add the run threat

For all the idiots blaming the quarterback, a large portion of the offensive line graded out in the 40s…

He wasn’t terrible. I’ve said this, but he also isn’t great. If Nico is what we think, let’s see it

Milton reminds me of Feleipe Franks. Phenomenal arm strength, makes a hand full of wow throws during a game, but then just seems to be missing a couple Ingredients to get him to the next level.
That is absolutely the reason he is so frustrating for Vol fans.
