Projecting the 2022 lineup

I believe within the first five ball games you will see 16 different fielders get significant time. Some will play because of their bat and some because of their glove. It will begin to work itself out over first few weeks. Some will play themselves into the lineup and some will play themselves out.
Pitching will do the same. Some will step up and get significant innings and some will step down and be pushed down the depth chart to very few innings. it’s the fun part of it. Some decisions you will agree with and some you won’t.

I'm hearing Chambers is just killing the ball and he will be your LF. That's tough news for Booker. So your outfield is set.

I'll bet Russell starts but he & Charley will split time behind the plate. In order to catch this staff, Russell will need to build up experience, confidence, and skill set, and believe me, the pitcher needs to have confidence in his catcher to throw his best. He doesn't need to be worrying about the ball getting past the catcher. I think the same can be said with Ben Joyce. Coach V will ease him in due to his potential. My take on Ben Joyce? Watch him climb the draft board from unknown to known.

Vitello is smart, he won't throw these kids into the fire. I think he'll want to put them in low pressure win-win situations to build up their confidence as opposed to throwing them in a tough situation right away and that if it goes south, the kid could carry that baggage for a while. Unfortunately, he doesn't have much time because Houston, albeit it not SEC play, will be a fire with Texas, Baylor, and Okie. But again, he'll be very careful with Russell and Joyce. Vitello is very calculating.

Now, go out on a limb and give us who you think are the 3 weekend guys until Blade returns. 😉

Man, if your lineup is correct, having guys like Stephenson, Moore, Booker, Payne, Ensley, Scott, and Ortega coming off the bench reflects a depth this program hasn’t seen in decades. Possibly ever.
Dollander Friday, Sewell Saturday, Burns Sunday just my guess! But if I was a betting man I would put money on Dollander throwing Friday!!!!!!

Still think Christian Moore is gonna be the 2nd baseman

hearing good things about Hollis Fanning and Drew Beam as well. I hear Drew is up to 95 and has good command...working on his off speed. Both of these young men could contribute this year especially until Halverson and Tidwell make it back. Also, hearing Seth Stephenson is swinging the bat pretty well. love the depth , just got to gel as a team. Go Vols , 4 DAYS!!!
