Our D is going to be NASTY this year. It's 98-01 type of NASTY, and I assure you that if we stay relatively healthy, we won't just dominate; we'll set some SEC offenses back to their worst performance in years. For those that remember the years I referenced; you know just how scary our D can be this year.

Last year we held Alabama and Oklahoma to season lows. Perhaps some other teams also.

Mucho kudos to Butch and really all the staff... it takes the whole crew to pull off something like this class. We missed on Brown, but hey, that would have been two grand slams in one game. As it is, we got a grand slam. Great group, and with the return of the guys that coulda gone pro, well... an incredible piece of work!

It's great... to be... a Tennessee Vol!!

Yep, our D will kick b*** and take names! Our own Legion of Booooom! Love it! People used to hate playing the Vols because they hurt for days afterwards... well, boomin days are here again!

My favorite part of this class are the juco players. We got the number 1 DT and number 1 overall juco player. That's huge.

Right now we're one impact player on either side of the ball away from a BCS and or SEC title

Good job by the staff. If our lower rated players really are as underrated as we think and hope, then it could turn out to be a great job. Not signing any HS interior linemen is a minus, but signing what could very well turn out to be the best QB and DB class is a plus plus. If Devante heals well, he is another 5* talent, but that is a big if. I am excited to see what happens with this group. I think it has real potential to end up being one of the most underrated classes ever. Good job Butch and company.

It's a really good class, but you can't ignore the fact that it's ranked 7th in the league. It's understandable for one year when you have to take fewer numbers, but another year of finishing middle of the pack in next year's class would raise a few eyebrows. Need a monster, top 5 class next year

That stat really means nothing. If you combine the 4 and 5 stars each team got that was subjectively ranked in front of us, other than LSU & Bama, not one team got more than one or two extra impact guys as compared to what we brought in(Assuming 4 and 5 star kids equal impact players). And we are 6th in the SEC in ranking average(12th overall). And I'll trust Butch's evaluations when it comes to my unearthing guys no one was in on until he showed interest. He has proven to be a great evaluator of talent. GFW said last night, the coaches feel this is one of their best classes.

I would have been happy with the guys returning along with a few of these recruits, mainly Warrior. Good off season! GBO!

Two weeks ago, if we had known we would finish with Callaway, Byrd, Warrior, Kongbo, and the burner Lattrell Williams, I imagine we would have taken it in a heartbeat.

The 2016 cycle presented numerous challenges for this staff, and they managed to overcome them, for the most part. There is no doubt in my mind they are as relentless as any staff in the country on the recruiting trail. This was one epic finish.

1 or 2 extra impact guys can be a serious advantage in the SEC. Don't get me wrong, it's a really good class - but you can't finish 6th or 7th in the league on a regular basis and expect to beat the teams who's classes were ranked 1-5. It's just one class, so not a big cause for concern but back to back and I'll be worried.

The one and only reason this class is not ranked higher: Fewer available scholarships. Had more been available, I have no doubt a harder press would have been put on players like Brown, Dickerson, and maybe Hardman.

Star rankings no longer matter very much. Now, the players have to live up to them. Does anyone know when these guys are scheduled to enroll? Realize most of the JUCO guys and Osbourne are already here. Would be good to know who will be here for spring practice.

I'm very glad we flipped Byrd. I was kinda wary earlier in the process that we might get enough CBs because we were thin at that spot last year. Now I'm more comfortable with the depth.

I am so glad I was wrong about Kongbo. I was sure he was a Rebel. This class looks good. Missed on several high profile guys, but nobody can win them all. Good job Butch. Go Big Orange!

Stewart is enrolling in the summer as well.

Good. Had not seen anything solid on his plans. Few times I have seen Stewart, I liked him. Solid player, well spoken, and just seemed like a good kid. I feared we might end up losing him. Once he enrolls, that might be "boomworthy".

Let's hope

24/7 rates the top 9 players in the state of TN as 4 stars and I'd say we have a shot at all, if not at least most of them. We'll definitely have a shot at DeAngelo Gibbs of whom some people have said he has the potential to be the #1 recruit in the '17 cycle. And I read an article recently saying we're in good standing with several top 4 star players out of North Carolina. It definitely could line up to be very, very special.

That being said, this class will pay dividends almost immediately and today was certainly a victory.

Yes and this is where the rubber meets the road in team rebuilding. Its hard to get a top 5 class when the cupboard is full or you don't make the final 4. These top guys want early playing time so they can get that contract in year 3. I think Butch is up to the task and who knows we might even have the top 4 status?
