The one and only reason this class is not ranked higher: Fewer available scholarships. Had more been available, I have no doubt a harder press would have been put on players like Brown, Dickerson, and maybe Hardman.

Star rankings no longer matter very much. Now, the players have to live up to them. Does anyone know when these guys are scheduled to enroll? Realize most of the JUCO guys and Osbourne are already here. Would be good to know who will be here for spring practice.

You don't think that scholly numbers meant the staff decided to not pursue (100%) the names you mentioned, right? If so, it makes no sense at all. I'd also question why this staff would NOT pursue the best; especially with fewer scholarships!

It's a really good class, but you can't ignore the fact that it's ranked 7th in the league. It's understandable for one year when you have to take fewer numbers, but another year of finishing middle of the pack in next year's class would raise a few eyebrows. Need a monster, top 5 class next year

Totally agree we need to keep ourselves closer to the top 5 in recruiting rankings yearly but there are many other variables to consider. Player development, good player evaluations, culture fit, need, and attrition all play into how successful a class will be over time. We've got one recruit who was a top 100 player before injury. Can he tap in to the potential he showed before? What would our rankings be if he was bumped from a 3* to the high level 4* he was before? The rankings don't represent this. We've got another player that is ranked low because rivals literally didn't evaluate him even though he is a 4* on other sites. Personally, I believe if a school can keep their avg. recruiting rankings in the top 10 over time and are successful in the other areas I mentioned above then they should be consistent factors on the field, in conference and nationally. How big of a discrepancy of talent would there really be on the field if one class is no.5 and the other no.10? I'd argue there would be little to none and the difference in success would come down to other factors like like, coaching, snd system. Let us not forget that these rankings are based on a bunch of fat guys that likely never played a down of meaningful football in their lives.

My only thing is, did we seriously take 5 WRS? Lol

We lost 3 this year, one may go to TE, and another may be moved to safety.

Jennings- safety?
Croom- TE?
North- NFL
Pearson- NFL
Pig- dismissed

What are you talking about? Jennings may have been our best WR.

I see the points but 5 is a little extreme. Would of been better with 3 so we could get another RB and DT/OL. But what can you do. Its good to add more competition in the position we need results out of the most. Top 15 class isn't too shabby for a low number year when there wasn't too much in state talent. Next year could be the best class Butch has had here. 2017 in state talent is off the charts!

Malone, Smith, and Von were the only three that did anything honestly. So not sure where you're getting that from

What are you talking about. He is not and will not be the best receiver next year. He could be the best safety on the team. Before today's recruits, I was almost certain he would be at safety next year. They actually recruited some really good WR and safeties so the move may or may not happen.

We gotta be happy with things. We could go all nega and say a bunch of our rivals finished higher, but 12th ranked classes is good enough...especially considering that we didn't lose any players to transfer (which has been a problem the last couple of years) and we also got back 3 incredibly explosive players.

Jennings did almost nothing at receiver lol. He honestly made more plays in special teams than offense. But I do believe he's an amazing athlete with tons of potential.

I just looked on the Rivals board for Tennessee.
I'm STARRY eyed.
Great finish. No Negavols today!

There will always be Negavols.

See?

I remember when I returned home from Tempe after the 1999 Fiesta Bowl BCS NC game. The very first call I heard on Sports Talk was some moron calling for Fulmer's head.

There will always be Negavols.

Um I'm not sure if you watched any of the games? He kinda disappeared in the second half of the season but at first he was the only standout at WR. His potential there is really high but if they think he'll be a better safety then I'm okay with it.

I'd say 12 scholly wrs is about right in this offense. Would personally like to see jennings stay at wr given we now have great depth at db unless its just obvious jennings will excel at db moreso than wr.

Really need to stay healthy at wr. Need malone, preston, smith to lead the way.

Not only did he disappear in the 2nd half of the season, he needs to cool his temper a little on the field. I like a guy playing with heart and some anger but getting personal fouls can really hurt an offense. 15 yards is no joke, especially with a more run heavy scheme.

Very good class. Too bad we didnt get Brown, but if he's signing somewhere else I'm glad it was AU. He's Georgia and Bama's problem now.

Worthy of note, Emmett Gooden, Darel Middleton, and Dorian Banks look like they're still unsigned. Tim Hart to Tiger High.

I think they all went to Juco schools
