Pruitt has met with Freeze about OC position (Price)

Don't know the rules, and haven't heard it mentioned -- is there a requirement to interview minority candidates as part of the process? If so, that might prevent an immediate hire.

There is a requirement in the NFL, I’m unsure at the college level though. Knowing how dumb the NCAA is leads me to think they have no requirement though.

Vibing without strippers is no fun though.

Minority rule is stupid....I know it's about giving Canidates of different races a fair shot, but just look at the rosters of most pro teams in football, basketball. No minority rule there. Just saying. If the minority rule was such a big deal then teams should have to be split into all races across the board. Go Vols, Go Pruitt, Get Freeze!

I'm certainly no offensive guru. Hell, I'm barely a novice. But....I just read several breakdowns of Freeze's offense philosophy. It seems to be designed to give the QB options after the ball is snapped (not as in the old triple option). That most importantly includes the QB being able to run inside and out and throw spint out passes. That doesn't seem suited to the QB we just received a commitment from today who appears to be a pure pro style drop back passer who runs a 5+ 40. Some OTs are faster than that.

Help me out. Is his offense compatible with Bailey's game or will he adjust to the QBs abilities?

Bo Wallace wasn't fast and neither was Chad Kelly and they turned out well. Heck, Shea Patterson isn't even that mobile.

I thought about this myself.

He recruited Shea Patterson. He is considered a Pro-Style QB. I'd say he will adjust to the ability of the personnel.

Sure you want to go back to running the spread, that is Freeze's offense? In the gun, no fullback etc.
Are you sure?
That's a good question.

Right now we simply do not have the Jimmy's and Joe's to line up and overpower our opponents. So... yes, I'm okay with going back to the spread. BUT I don't think you'll see Tennessee rely on the pass as much as Ole Miss did for at least a couple of years. Freeze was never able to sign an elite running back at OM so his rosters heavily favored the pass with Donte Moncrief, Laquan Treadwell, Evan Ingram, Van Jefferson, and AJ Brown but they didn't REALLY start slinging it around until they got Chad Kelly.

Most of these offensive gurus adapt their systems over time. For example, go back to what Freeze did at Arkansas State and you'll see that he ran it more than he threw it and his quarterback lead the team in carries both years. At Ole Miss, the number of runs by the quarterback steadily decreased from Freeze's first year to his last and the run:pass ratio went from favoring the run to favoring the pass, mostly due to signing Kelly.

All that being said, with Freeze I do think we could expect to see a spread offense but most importantly I think we'd see an offense that is catered to our personnel, whatever it may be. If we were to get Jalen Hurts, I could see Freeze doing things similar to what he did at Arkansas State. With Guarantano, we'd probably see something similar to what we saw him do with Bo Wallace. With Bailey, we might see him sling it around like Chad Kelly... but who knows? Freeze has never had a Ty Chandler or Eric Gray to work with. His best RBs at Ole Miss were Akeem Judd or Jaylen Walton. Maybe we see something like what Clemson is doing or maybe it'll look more like what Auburn is doing. Not sure, but I'd trust Freeze and the other excellent coaches on Tennessee's staff to put together a system that works.
