Sorry if this has been posted but thought it deserved some attention. Pruitt was an idiot, but I do commend him for standing up and pleading for the NCAA not to punish the new staff and players, who had nothing to do with it. Atleast he is taking responsibility for this. He is right, none of our players nor staff should be punished. But he could have been bitter and not taken a stand on this. I despise the man, but can appreciate and respect him Atleast doing this.

Where was all this "caring" for future staff and players when this cheating was going on? He knew that getting caught would most likely negatively impact future players, coaches, and administration. He didn't give a damn. He doesn't give a damn now. He cares about Jeremy Pruitt. I don't hate the guy, but I sure as hell don't appreciate him or respect him either.

I do appreciate him making that gesture.

A lot of folks in the world today can only see people in extremes. They're either super-heroes, or super-villians. 100% good, or 100% bad.

In reality, we're all complicated. A fella like Pruitt can both be a cheating idiot, AND be a stand-up guy on one particular day for thinking of folks more deserving of mercy than himself.

I appreciate that gesture, Jeremy Pruitt. You done good with it.

Go Vols!

I am glad he is gone. But, he wasn't doing anything that a bunch of other schools weren't doing. He learned this from every coaching stop he made. His problem is he wasn't smart enough to get a 3rd party to be the bag man.
I used to work for one of Bama's bag men back in the 80's.
I knew Pruitt would get us in trouble soon after he came to Knoxville. There was a football player that got arrested on a traffic stop by the KPD. They found a little weed on the guy. Pruitt said in an interview that "This arrest could have only happened in Knoxville". That pretty much told me how he felt about the rules. At least he is owning his mess.

'Guys you do whatever you need to do, but there is no reason in the world that the current players on that football team should be punished in any way, shape or form. They didn't have anything to do with any of this. They do not deserve a postseason ban. They should be able to go play for a championship if they can earn that right. They do not deserve to be punished for this'.

OK, years later this is a nice gesture but, too bad CJP lost this moral compass when he was at the reigns during his tenure in Ktown. He knew damn good and well what he was doing back then was illegal as hell yet, he went ahead and did it anyway. So in essence, too little of a conscious too late Pruitt.

I expect Saban may hire him even with a show cause.
Saban doesn't need him to recruit, just help the defense not lose games.
Pruitt is a very good DC, so it would make sense.

I'll be the first to admit I am cynical. My take is this gesture was damage control on his part. It's a smart move even if it's BS. Just my opinion.

We fans (and wee fans) shouldn't have to suffer from the misdeeds of the Pruitt staff either.
But the ncaa ripple effect encircles everyone.
True, but that's kinda the nature of the beast.

I mean, I was never in the Garden of Eden nor anywhere near the Tower of Babel, but... here I am and full of it.

If not for Jesus taking the rap for me... well, those sanctions are pretty dang severe!

I remember Cornbread promising an absolutely top recruiting class, I believe in year #2. He had a plan. He had a vision. He was going to spend a lot of money to get there breaking rules.

In the end it all comes down to him being over his head as far as being a head coach is concerned.

His ceiling might be as a defensive coordinator to where Butch’s ceiling was most likely a division 2 coach and Dooley maybe a position coach, but that might be too high as I might even question that.

The fault of all three lies with the athletic director that hired them as in reality who is going to turn the job down short a coach already having a top power 5 head coach position?

It was self serving. Probably done on advice from his lawyers. He’s a rotten Bama jerk off.

Question for the crowd: If he’s technically not a coach, is that a way to circumvent the show cause?
