Pruitt Pleading to the NCAA

Sorry if this has been posted but thought it deserved some attention. Pruitt was an idiot, but I do commend him for standing up and pleading for the NCAA not to punish the new staff and players, who had nothing to do with it. Atleast he is taking responsibility for this. He is right, none of our players nor staff should be punished. But he could have been bitter and not taken a stand on this. I despise the man, but can appreciate and respect him Atleast doing this.

I’ve said it multiple times. A lot of people don’t like him because he was the head coach when this happened and lost some football games. And I’ll say it again. Nobody was coming in behind butch Jones and winning many football games. Everyone else cheats too and was just better at it or winning that made up for it I suppose. Pruitt was a players coach and it shows. Did then and does now. I still think he’s a good guy and sorry his tenure ended the way it did.

That said, I’m glad this all led to Heupel. He’s been worth it so far.

'Guys you do whatever you need to do, but there is no reason in the world that the current players on that football team should be punished in any way, shape or form. They didn't have anything to do with any of this. They do not deserve a postseason ban. They should be able to go play for a championship if they can earn that right. They do not deserve to be punished for this'.

OK, years later this is a nice gesture but, too bad CJP lost this moral compass when he was at the reigns during his tenure in Ktown. He knew damn good and well what he was doing back then was illegal as hell yet, he went ahead and did it anyway. So in essence, too little of a conscious too late Pruitt.

I mean, in 6 years he could be recruiting other kids with their hands out to play for his U. Self preservation. Still playing the game. Hold those accountable.............accountable.

Some have no concept, evidently, of forgiveness. Yes, all that was done was reprehensible. No doubt. But since everyone who is castigaitng him is perfect all is ok. "He who is without sin throw the first stone." If he made an attempt at a gesture to not punish current folks then perhaps he isn't past redemption from his sins. Some may be like Jonah who got angry when folks were offered forgiveness. So a man made a serious series of personal mistakes. We all agree correct? Question is who wants to hold a forever grudge, and hope no one does the same to them ever. Just saying keeping bitterness inside is a killer and has never benefitted anyone. Let's move on and take the higher ground.Go VOLS!

I'll be the first to admit I am cynical. My take is this gesture was damage control on his part. It's a smart move even if it's BS. Just my opinion.
THIS and all of this.

By the time Pruitt was in front of these folks he knew his college career was toast. His statement of "you do what you have to do but..." is nothing more than a last ditch effort to gain a little compassion from the hammer heading his way.

He knew his plea to the NCAA for leniency to UT was as useful as mine or yours. UT and Danny White took care of UT, not Jeremy Pruitt. UT did the right things. UT cooperated and reported everything they could. UT cleaned house. UT took voluntary scholarship reductions.

Jeremy Pruitt tried to lessen his own punishment and maybe help his conscience feel cleaner. Jeremy Pruitt is still Jeremy Pruitt and still only looking out for Jeremy Pruitt.

I agree the new staff at UT should NOT get punished. But why then did the coaches who took the players involved with Pruitt why are they not in any trouble.

For me, this isn't about forgiveness. It's about a sportswriter riding Pruitt's jock, telling me why I should have a lot of respect for him. I'm telling him why I shouldn't.

Pruitt did more damage to this program in 3 years than all the previous head coaches in our history. I guess what he said was ok. But I would rather have had him kept his mouth shut.
Seriously??? What if it helped the “No Clue About Anything” criminal organization decide to spare us bowl bans?

I expect Saban may hire him even with a show cause.
Saban doesn't need him to recruit, just help the defense not lose games.
Pruitt is a very good DC, so it would make sense.
Yep and nick will do whatever he needs to do to save himself, ego, and czar worship.

Where Pruitt screwed up as most saban tree asst's(Dooley acted same way and sucked) - they try to go in and act like their mentor being a dickhead and do not win like dickhead and piss people off and that is what happened at Tennessee for Pruitt- whistleblower blew this whole thing up and compound it with them going 3-7 at the time.

Just saying many are silently and some vocally, "off with his head". Won't forgive, then you are choosing what you want, apparently, to reap.

Yeah you gotta start winning like that before you can act like that and get away with it.

According to the Knox News article, the players involved who transferred were given immunity from charges and eligibility restored by the NCAA in return for cooperating with the the investigation.

Where was all this "caring" for future staff and players when this cheating was going on? He knew that getting caught would most likely negatively impact future players, coaches, and administration. He didn't give a damn. He doesn't give a damn now. He cares about Jeremy Pruitt. I don't hate the guy, but I sure as hell don't appreciate him or respect him either.

Do you Think Fulmer didn't do the EXACT same thing? Arian Foster threw him under the bus several times and it was just Fulmer helping him. Yes Pruitt is an idiot and they didn't even try to hide it. But Fulmer also had Roy Kramer to cover his a$$. I have no problem with them helping current players and their families. But damn be smarter about it.

Call me dumb but I don’t think it’s fair that Heupel and his staff got punished with recruiting restrictions. That’s not fair in the slightest.
