Pruitt Pleading to the NCAA

Pruitt did more damage to this program in 3 years than all the previous head coaches in our history. I guess what he said was ok. But I would rather have had him kept his mouth shut.

He was paid for this. UT didn't give him his buyout but he got money for going out the way he did and for what he is doing now.

Sorry if this has been posted but thought it deserved some attention. Pruitt was an idiot, but I do commend him for standing up and pleading for the NCAA not to punish the new staff and players, who had nothing to do with it. Atleast he is taking responsibility for this. He is right, none of our players nor staff should be punished. But he could have been bitter and not taken a stand on this. I despise the man, but can appreciate and respect him Atleast doing this.

Tuscaloosa bus tickets are cheap. They can get their overnight!

I’ll pay for both!

I know Fulmer did things for this program and University but he tried to do erases all that. Then he tried to lobby to keep his job. It wouldn’t bother me if he never showed his face in Neyland ever again.

Given the use of multi-syllable words, subject-verb agreement, the use of proper English, and not saying "aight", it's clear Pruitt was just reading a statement his lawyer prepared.

Judge a man by their actions, not their lawyer's words...

I do appreciate him making that gesture.

A lot of folks in the world today can only see people in extremes. They're either super-heroes, or super-villians. 100% good, or 100% bad.

In reality, we're all complicated. A fella like Pruitt can both be a cheating idiot, AND be a stand-up guy on one particular day for thinking of folks more deserving of mercy than himself.

I appreciate that gesture, Jeremy Pruitt. You done good with it.

Go Vols!
Very well stated. I agree 100%.

Screw Pruitt. We now know exactly what he meant by "buying into the program". I kind of feel now like I hate the guy more now than I did before. Before I thought he was just a terrible HC. Now that everything has seemingly came out. I cannot believe anyone was dumb enough to hire this idiot. Dude has been a liar and cheat his entire career. Pisses me off knowing how many millions dude has been paid to be a complete waste of oxygen. Trying to play the " I felt bad for the black families" card.

Well about 100 D1 schools are getting away with it.
Doesn't make it right and grown people in any job would do well to remember this. I'm constantly amazed at just how much or their raising folks forget. Well, I guess they don't "forget" it, they just choose to ignore it. There are very few shortcuts in life and character matters. Always will.

Didn’t say it made any of it right.

I really don’t see Pruitt as a players coach, as some have stated, at least not at Tennessee. His tenure was fraught with player troubles, rumors of locker room issues, broken promises, and the coach commonly throwing players under the bus to the media. I know he has a reputation with some now-NFL players from his other stops, but I never saw that reputation play out here.

I was unhappy with his hiring from the start, and had concern of the Alabama stink permeating our program. I never envisioned it would get as bad as it did. Pruitt was either irretrievably incompetent as a head coach, or he had premeditated bad intent for this program. Not sure which is worse. One thing was clear from the outset to me…he did not seem particularly honored to be here. He made it seem like a pit stop rather than a destination.

It’ll take years to erase his negative impact on the program…at least 5 more I guess. I’m so thankful we have Heupel in place to lead the renovation. I’m anxious to close the chapter and erase CJP’s name from any association with Tennessee football.

My grandad used to say, “it is far better to say nothing and appear a fool than open your mouth and remove all doubt”. Pruitt obviously didn’t know my grandpa. This is a quote from KNS:

“Jeremy Pruitt said the weight of the COVID-19 pandemic, the nation's racial reckoning after the murder of George Floyd and empathy led him to gift $300 in a Chick-fil-A bag to Tennessee player's mom.”

The idiocy of this remark is beyond words.

Lol...are some really giving Pruitt credit now?

Talk about battered Vol syndrome or a symptom of society. The guy has no choice. He was handing out bags of cash he knew could sink the program. He knew it was against the rules.

Incredible. I don't hate the guy because I'm not applauding the guy. Decisions have consequences. Fortunately it could've been worse but I'm not giving Pruitt credit.

He is a bammer whose bammer scheme got blown up. Not a conspiracist but there is the possibility that his goal was to bring down UT football once and for all. And Fulmer almost handed him our program on a silver platter
